Forerunner 910XT Will not sync to computer

Hi All,

For the life of me, I can not get my Forerunner 910XT to sync to my computer. It has been finicky in the past (i.e. I would have to boot up the computer and watch in a certain order), but now, nothing seems to be working. When I open up Garmin Express, it says it has a recent sync, but none of my workouts are there. As I said, it has worked in the past, so I'm not sure what has changed. I have tried it wirelessly with the ANT stick, and via USB, and all the USB does is charge the watch. I also went through the troubleshooting steps for this device outlined by Garmin on their support page, and still had no luck. Does anyone know of anything else I can try? Thank you very much in advance for any help you can offer me.
  • I've moved the thread to the Garmin Express - PC Forum. Meanwhile, try browsing that forum to see if any of the fixes from EXPRESSCUSTOMERCARE apply to your situation.
  • Anyone out there have any advice? I'm sitting on about 2 weeks worth of workouts that I want to upload and can't.

There may be files from earlier attempts interfering with the sync process. Express stores files in a folder on the computer before uploading them to Connect. Please use the FAQ: Where do my activities go on the computer before they are uploaded to Garmin Connect? to locate files that were not uploaded.

Technically, this folder should be empty after a successful sync. If there are any files there you can try to manually upload them. All files must have the .FIT extension before manually importing into Connect. Use the steps in the FAQ: How do I manually upload data from USB Mass Storage devices to Garmin Connect? to manually import to Connect. Connect will only upload valid activity files that have not already been uploaded. Regardless if Connect accepts the file(s) they should be removed to prevent issues with future syncing.

In addition to these steps you can resend all the activities in the History folder on the 310XT/910XT. I recommend deleting all but the last 30 days worth of History on the watch before resending. To prevent future sync issues, delete the watch from Express and Connect, Master Reset it then add it back again. See the FAQ: How do I delete a fitness device from Garmin Express? and How do I master reset my Forerunner 910XT?

If you continue to experience syncing issues, contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.

  • I'll try these things, but I don't want to delete the last 30 days of workouts, because there are workouts that have not been uploaded from within the last 30 days.

You will want to delete all workouts older than 30 days.

  • I have the same problem with my 910XT since I did the fake 'maps' update for non-maps devices.

I have been through all these 'fixes', and a bunch of others with no success. 3 open tickets on this and no response to any of them!

It claims to be transferring data but doesn't do the last few tracks (I have tried removing the two oldest of those tracks that won't upload in case they were corrupted).
Tried in Win7 and on Mac.
Tried editting my weight on garmin connect and that change downloads ok so it is not a comms or ANT+ fault.

I haven't been able to sync in two months!! To the reference below, regarding files in FIT_TYPE 4 - I see files there - but no way to get them. I even did a test & created a 10sec. file. It happens the same - it say's "xfring" data OK, I see the file on my PC, go to GARMIN CONNECT - nothing there & it say's "Nothing to sync"
