Garmin Express - "There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect."

Hi All,

I am looking for some help with the below issue:

I am able to sync my Garmin Edge 800 & 810 with my Garmin connect account, I.E it is sync my recent activities, but it will not allow me to push new courses created and throw up the error within Garmin express ""There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect." even-though the last sync time with my device is being updated within the software.

All of my software is up to date in regards to device firmware and Garmin Express.

I have two devices, a edge 800 & 810 that both experience these issues, I have also tried using a different computer, using a different network to perform the send to device action.

Please see attached image of error message.

  • Same or similar with 310xt, 610 and 220 in the home are behaving nicely

    310 seems to sync, but no fit files appear in the %programfiles%/../fit-type-4 directory
    Nothing uploads and an "Can not log in to garmin connect" error in the express program and a pop up with username and password apprears. I log in and everything looks ok, but nothing uploads... as there are no fit files.

    Tried master resetting the 310xt - no change

    Tried installing express fresh on a new machine - no change

    Installed the old ANT agent on that new maching - wham bam.. everything is fetched from the 310 and uploaded to connect.

    I'd throw out the express, except one member of the household has a new 220 and therefore can not use the ANT agent.
  • Yeah should be %ProgramData% but I'd think mentioning the fit-type-4 dir should clear up what I mean :-) and the fit files do not appear there.

    This fault was first reported on this thread at the end of April.

    Eventually... it was admitted (11 June) that yet again the Garmin development team had screwed up our devices with an inadequately tested release.

    I am sorry for the troubles. Currently there is an issue with Connect Sending Courses to the Edge 305/605/705 devices. The Connect Team has been notified and are investigating the issue

    Still no fix and for many owners one of the key functions is unuseable.

    For me this mediocre support and slow response shows a lack of respect for customers who have paid a substantial amount of good money for a device.

    Bear this in mind when you are next spending your hard earned cash.


    Anyone who considers buying their stuff should look at this forum section. Just read the thread headlines and look at all the threads that have been locked.

    I have NEVER seen anything like this for a product. Certainly not for a product for which I spent hundreds of dollars.

    Also with edge 810. Typical it started about 2 weeks after I bought the thing...

    Garmin Express

    Garmin Express has been nothing but problems since day one. It does not seem like Garmin is putting much effort in trying to fix it either. The reason I bought a Garmin 310XT was because the possibilities to load other peoples tracks into the watch and the run them myself. This is now not working!! When will our products work the way they are supposed to?

    Any ETA on this issue?? please put pressure so development fix this. This is a MAJOR feature not working.

    Servers "Out"?

    Since 6 months it is impossible for me to sync with garmin express I have to to each and every sync "by hand".
    impossible to sync a new device (edge 500) : it recognize the device BUT "it is impossible tu sync because our servers are temporarily out" (translated from french)
    WELL 6 Months is no more temporary
    NO response from garmin services
    what will be my next update? Garmin? are you so sure ?

    Mac OS 10.9 Mac book, Imac, / chrome/ Safari / Firefox/ Latest Garmin express/ Modern either antic view: Nothing nothing never nothing is working

    Believe me when I tell you that Garmin's servers have been available for the past 6 months.

  • Same issues with Forerunner 305

    I have the same issues with my older Forerunner 305. it has been happily working for years but since moving to the new Garmin Express it has been nothing but problems.

    The application regularly crashes and has only a couple times managed to sync a course to my watch. The only thing I can do with it reliably is upload courses to Garmin Connect.
