Garmin Express - "There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect."

Hi All,

I am looking for some help with the below issue:

I am able to sync my Garmin Edge 800 & 810 with my Garmin connect account, I.E it is sync my recent activities, but it will not allow me to push new courses created and throw up the error within Garmin express ""There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect." even-though the last sync time with my device is being updated within the software.

All of my software is up to date in regards to device firmware and Garmin Express.

I have two devices, a edge 800 & 810 that both experience these issues, I have also tried using a different computer, using a different network to perform the send to device action.

Please see attached image of error message.

Thanks in advance!

    Forerunner 205 not syncing

Thanks for the information Lisa. Is the CPI currently supported by any browsers? I've only just recently started to use the Garmin Express as I was not able to use the CPI anymore with the browsers available (Chrome, Firefox, IE).

ETA: Old history cleared on my device so plenty of space.
  • Won't work with Chrome but does with the others at the moment.

EDGE 1000 does not sync with express

    TOTALLY FRUSTRATED !!!!
I try loading a course today for Sunday's ride. And Lo and Behold.......PROBLEMS with Syncing.

Using Connect Modern and Express. Message reads...There was an error syncing with Garmin connect.

Using Connect Classic. Meassage reads.....Unable to send course to device. Please try again later.

In both cases, that's it. Only the error message. No solutions to solve, no error reporting direct to Garmin, NOTHING !!!

I specifically bought a GARMIN device (the EDGE 1000) to use GPS routing and now that functionallity is out of the window without being able to download or sync.

I mean seriously, when will GARMIN fix these errors and problems that is being had with with your devices, software, firmware and platforms that you are using.

THANKS GARMIN for keeping me OFF Track !!!!!!:(

Edge 510 'There was an error syncing with garmin connect'

    Edge 510.
After a ride today I get this message. The activity uploads but the big red error message appears. Apparently it wants to update segment leaders but cannot?
Is there a fix for an IT luddite that has been worked out yet?

I am sorry for the troubles. If you are going to send a Course to a device it must be a completed activity that you have synced with Connect then saved as a Course, or a Course that you manually created in the Course menu. There is currently an issue with Courses imported into Connect from a .gpx file created outside Connect. The Connect team is looking into this issue. I see that you were able to sync a ride from Sunday and that you have at least 2 Courses created for in the Course menu. Is this the Course you were trying to send to the Edge when you had the issue? Where did this Course originate?

I believe you are getting this message because the segment leaders were in your Sync menu to be sent to the Edge but your activities do not meet the requirements to be considered for the leader board. I have removed the segment-leaders item from the Sync menu on your account. Please see the FAQ article below if you would like to work with segments.

Why is my activity not showing up on the segment leaderboard?

I get the same error message about Friday's workout. What gives here? I don't recall having any of these problems back when I didn't use this "express" app.

Can I retrieve this workout or what? (It's still in the watch).
  • Fenix 3 / Edge 810 Sync Errors

I was having the same issue on both a fenix 3 (sync error server error) and edge 810 (sync error device connection error).
I deleted the garmindevice.xml file from both devices - you need to plug into pc with usb cable.
I opened up garmin connect on the web and went to the device sync button (arrows left/right at angles) and cancelled all pending download.
I opened up garmin express pc app and sync'd through it with out issue.
My watch is now receiving items which I push at it ie courses when connect through garmin connect ios app.
Edge is slowing syncing with ios app - it's progress is further than previous attempts.
I also deleted some biking courses which did not have any elevation data associated with them - possibly corrupted.

This resolution was based on several different items I had read across different forums.

    Mediocre Support

This fault was first reported on this thread at the end of April.

Eventually... it was admitted (11 June) that yet again the Garmin development team had screwed up our devices with an inadequately tested release.

I am sorry for the troubles. Currently there is an issue with Connect Sending Courses to the Edge 305/605/705 devices. The Connect Team has been notified and are investigating the issue

Still no fix and for many owners one of the key functions is unuseable.

For me this mediocre support and slow response shows a lack of respect for customers who have paid a substantial amount of good money for a device.

Bear this in mind when you are next spending your hard earned cash.
