Garmin Express sync 'working' - but activities not uploading to Garmin Connect

I have a Garmin 410 which i've successfully used with Garmin Express for some time. My last activity upload was on Friday 13th March. Since then i've tried to upload two further activities and despite Garmin Express stating that the transfer was complete, when I login to Garmin Connect the activities are not there. Scouring Google for answers hasn't helped me either. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Garmin Express - to no avail.

Has anyone got any ideas of how I can get it to work? Or am I missing something obvious that I should be doing?

Thanks
  • It seems to me that Express has been shaky since its inception. For years, I had a Nuvi where the common wisdom had been to continue using Map Updater instead of Express. I've used Express for the past couple of map updates without issue and to sync my vivofit. Before then, we were advised to stay away. I guess Express has gotten better but I am still on 3.2.29 and don't plan to upgrade until these types of posts are mostly eliminated.

My guess is that Garmin's developers are working hard to resolve the issues but it will take at least 2 or 3 more versions before Express is as stable as it should be.
  • Looks like I'm not the only one with this issue. I can see the problem seems very common, but I can't see a solution?? How do I fix it? I have the 910, it says syncing. Then I get an error to say there was a problem with garmin connect to reverify my login which I do. And on the garmin connect page is says the most recent activity was from a couple of months ago, but new data has added since yesterday!? I transfer all via the watch and us says syncing, then an hour or so later I get an error message.

Why do Garmin software people keep breaking what was working? I had the 310 and via software updates it become useless, never connected and communticated the data. I bougth a 910 and it was working perfectly with the ANT agent and transferred the data across. Now garmin express doesn't do anything. It is so frustrating, I have data I don't want to lose from the last couple of weeks.

Having same problem with 910, will not update since March 5th.
It looks like it is transferring data, but no new data appears on Connect
  • Update: after being on all day my 910XT sync'd with Express 4 this evening. Very happy. If I had to guess there were some hard working programmers involved. Fingers crossed that others have similar results. Thanks.

I have the same problem with a 310XT
There are the most recent activities that are not uploaded.
I tried to upload all files, but still some activities did not sync.

310 XT with the latest 4.5
    Garmin Express 4.0.11.0

Please help, as I share the point that it can't be that upload of activities cost more time than the activity itself!

Removed watch, trying to pair it again with Garmin Express (restarted computer before pairing again (trying to)), watch says "transferring data", but Express says "problem connecting to the garmin servers.".

Tried to sign in straight and also through facebook, no luck. Could you please look into that?

610 didn't say anything and I got this message:

Now it paired and tried to send data from watch to express but again there comes this in half way of syncing:

  • We are currently looking at this re-authentication issue. If you would like to provide your information to help us get this corrected, please contact support.

The only thing that works reliably for me is to leave the device and my computer on to allow them to attempt to sync. This time around it took somewhere around 18 hours before it worked. It is not the programmers, who keep breaking the software.
  • Anyone suddenly having issues with new activities not showing up in Connect after a successful sync in Express, make sure Garmin Express is up to date then please use the FAQ and instructions below to locate any files that have not uploaded to Connect and try to manually upload them.

Where do my activities go on the computer before they are uploaded to Garmin Connect?

All files in this location from a 310XT, 610XT, or 910XT should be .FIT files and have the .FIT extension. Add the .FIT extension if needed. Move any files to the Desktop or another folder then manually uploaded to Connect. If Connect refuses to import the file then it is corrupt and can be deleted. To recreate the files, use the Transfer All option on the watch. This will prompt the watch to send all activities to Express again . Hopefully the file for the missing activity will be valid with this second attempt and upload to Connect. Only activities not already in Connect will upload. If a missing activity fails to upload a second time it should be deleted from the device. Along with the corrupt activity, delete any activity on the device older than 30 days to as a preventative maintenance step.

To manually upload activities to Garmin Connect:

    • Sign into Garmin Connect
    • Click sidebar menu (three lines icon)
    • Click Activities
    • Click Import
    • Click Choose file

Please let us know if you have any success or contact Garmin Product Support by phone.

Again, I am sorry for the troubles.

Been a 910xt "customer" for yrs (as well as ancient 405 "days") ANT was "fine," usually; Express was good/great once early snafus were overcome. Boy do I miss those easy automatic downloads!!!!
Why??? Because it seems someone(s) "hacked/jacked" their way into bugging Garmin website/software/"whatevers" and messing up a good/great thing.
I contacted support after trying all their ideas for solutions. They sent me an email saying basically, "send us your watch....we'll get it back to ya in 10 or so days." Really? REALLY? Send my trusty $300 "personal trainer" and pray it returns to me? unharmed? unscathed? un.......(ok, I'm having too much literary fun here....)???

Tri-guys have to have their Garmin "Fix" every 1-3days MAX (don't ya know)!!!! Then I try it one last time earlier today with old 3.0 version and hey hey....get the activities to "play" for a day....it seems. But Just now I finished a 10k tonite and now it won't upload. Sheeesh.....its not my trusty watch guys. Its your "end." (software, etc) And the 4.0 interface doesn't even seem all that user friendly either; what's up with that??? Hope Garmin isn't working their techs "short" like everyone else. (hint hint) My venting is up......!
