VivoSmart not syncing

VivoSmart will not sync via bluetooth to mobile GarminConnect app and also doesn't sync when plugged into laptop with Garmin Express. On mobile app just says syncing at the bottom of the screen the whole time but nothing happens. On the laptop it says sync error. Other bluetooth functions work fine as well as syncing with MyFitnessPal.
Problem started 10/03/2015 at around 14h00.
Have tried everything, restarted phone and laptop, disconnected and reconnected device from garmin connect and garmin express.

Please help???
  • Check the sync logs. You should find it easily in Express. In Mobile Connect, choose the settings gear icon, About and the third to last option is Device sync audit.

    Does it indicate anything of use?

    Nothing that really makes sense to me...
    A whole bunch of things saying FAILED and unable to complete operation: Remote device disconnected.

    Cannot find sync logs on Express.

    I have reverted to an older version of Garmin Express and the device is now syncing on the PC.
    Still unable to sync with the Garmin Connect mobile app and I cannot load an older version of that.
    Therefore I believe there is something wrong with the newer versions of the Express and Connect applications...
  • I think 4.0.8 of Express solved a number of people's issues. I personally am running 3.2.28 of Express and for now I'm in no rush to upgrade.

    You can sideload an older version of Connect Mobile for Android.
    Try googling the Garmin Connect version you want and you should find the appropriate apk.

    There are other threads in the forum about that. If you don't want the current version make sure to remove the checkmark against autoupdate in Google Play so that it doesn't blow away the older version again.

    Still no luck with older versions of Connect mobile...
    Does not sync... Will have to keep syncing on the laptop until they sort the issues out.
  • I suggest you phone Garmin support if you can as I think you've done pretty much everything you could and your issue needs direct intervention.
