Garmin Express - There is a problem with our servers, Express temporary not available

Former Member

I want to link my device with Connect via Garmin Express. After giving the user name and password, I receive a message "There is a problem with our servers, Express temporary not available..,"

The problem is that I get always this message, last week as well and I was never able to link the device to Connect.

It is quit emabarrasing, looks as an issue on your servers, why it is not being solved?

    Hi!

I've just got a Vivofit, set up my account, and now I'm trying to get in to Express, but keep coming up against the error or the 'server' not being available as well.
I've checked firewall, internet connection, time/dates, etc etc, and everything seems to be ok on my end as far as I can see...
Any help sorting this out would be awesome

Have you tried the troubleshooting in our FAQ What troubleshooting options can I try when my ANT enabled fitness device will not upload data?

If you still receive the error, contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.

    Hi,
I've just tried the above, but still not working. Just coming up with the same problem of the servers.
  • Have you all double-checked the time zone setting on your computer? Even if the time is correct, the time zone can be wrong which will keep Garmin Express from communicating with the server.

Hey. Nope made sure to check time zone etc after reading the advice given to other people. It all seems correct
  • Do you have version 4.08 of Express installed? I ask because I initially had similar issues with my Vivofit and Express a few months ago. Once I updated Express, the problem was gone.

After several trial and error attempts, it worked. I had to go through some hoops like making sure all devices (Garmin watches and laptop included) were in the same time zone. Also noted that not only the password but your username is case sensitive (go figure) :)

    Anyhow, good luck to everyone.

Garmin Express - Not transferring data since update to 4.0 build

    Hi Curt -

I'm having the same problems as mentioned here. And even when I don't get the "servers not available message", Garmin Express just hangs and never completes the data transfer process. In fact, my 910XT usually times out after waiting. I've tried what you suggested and deleted the XT from Garmin Connect and Garmin Express. However, now Garmin Express 4.0.8.0 doesn't even recognize the ANT stick.

This has been going on since March 8th when i updated GE on my PC. None of my workouts has transferred to GC. I've even uninstalled GE, then removed all it's files (second reinstall), but nothing seems to work.

Also GE lost the ability for me to (push a button and) initiate a sync. That was a valuable feature, which at least gave the end user some control. Versus now, if it doesn't work there's not much I can do but force the app to quit. Any and all help would be appreciated.

I am sorry for the troubles. Try signing in through a web browser then deleting the Forerunner 910XT from the Connect account then trying to pair again through Express? Deleting the device does not delete any activities that are already uploaded. You might also try editing the User Profile on the watch before pairing. Just a small change to weight or heart rate zones to regenerate the profile. Also, consider deleting the activity from the day after your last successful upload. Corruption in an activity on the device can cause sync failures.

Again I am sorry for the troubles.

  • I fixed my issue. Even though Firefox is my default browser, it appears that Garmin Express is dependent on IE settings. I had had a virus infection that was overriding the proxy settings. I fixed the proxy issue in IE (Firefox has always worked BTW), and now Garmin Express is working. Well kind of - I have another problem now.. but that is for another post.

    Hey all!
Sorry, but my issue is quite the same - i cannot connect thru G.Express to G. servers. The program detects my new Forerunner 220 and then says that G. servers are currently unavailable (in Russian). The time is the same on my PC (Windows 7 x64 powered) and F.220. I tryed to swith off antivirus protection but it didn`t work. G.Express is of the latest ver - 4.0.8.0
here is the printscreen of the error msg (sorry, in Russian)
