Hi, I'm trying to sync my Garmin device with Garmin Express and consistently get unable to connect errors. Have looked at a couple of threads with respect to the update service and that has not resolved the problem. Have uninstalled all Garmin software rebooted and installed Garmin Express only followed by update service change. Is there anything else that I can do to resolve the problem?
I had this problem on my Home network (via Wifi) and it wouldn't resolve despite trying everything in this thread (I was also getting the same issue when trying to sync my iphone with Bluetooth). I took my watch into work and like magic both issues resolved automatically so it was a network issue! So if you are having this issue, try connecting via Wifi (and bluetooth for iphone) to a DIFFERENT network. To attempt to resolve my issues on home network, I am going to reboot my cable modem and wireless router (as I don't have any other firewalls on or proxies that I know of) - I had read this was a way to resolve.
I am sorry that you are having trouble with Garmin Express. Have you already followed the instructions in this FAQ? Make sure that when you check your time that you also make sure the time zone is correct as well. Usually these issues are caused by the time not matching the time zone that is selected.
If this does not solve the problem, it would be best to contact Product Support by phone so that we can troubleshoot.
Just recently I bought Fenix 3 GPS watch and when trying to connect to Garmin express received following message:
And after that this:
I must say that I didn't expect this much problems with Garmin devices. My first try to link Garmin connect with MyFitnessPal also failed (and still can't connect those two).
By now, only software problems.
P.S. I used Garmin webupdater to update all the available updates before trying all mentione above.
If your device was already linked to another account I can see how you could have issues. Was this a refurb or did you buy it second hand? A number of people are getting servers are not available errors but, based on my experience, I think it's really a symptom of something else. I only had that error once recently but after I unplugged my device and plugged it back in, that error went away. If there really were a server issue, this forum would be flooded.

I would think that once you resolve the account issue, the second error will disappear. If not, I think a call to support might be in order.
I don't know if this is somehow related to your problem but I wonder how Garmin's servers react to the underscore at the end of your user name. Garmin really doesn't like spaces in the username. This is an underscore but maybe that's part of your problem. If you can't login in anywhere, either setup a different account with a different username or contact support and have them help you.
pshare, you were absolutely right! I just made an new account, and everything is solved, i can login at every garmin service and my fenix 3 is fully connected with garmin express application. Now i'm transferring all my activity from my old account to the new one and i'm ready! My previous account was very old and for some reason, i had two registered usernames. I don't know how i did this...So my suggestion for anyone that has this kind of problems, is: Make an new clean account and transfer all your data...you can transfer your data through Strava and tapiriik.com
Thanks again!
Same issue with my fenix3.I have download the latest version of garmin express but still nothing.Via usb the garmin express not even recognize the device.Fix it.....
My wife and I both use the Edge 510. I had upgraded the firmware on mine quite a while back but never got around to it on hers. Her 510 is no longer able to connect to a phone over bluetooth to upload her data. I've attempted with 5 different phones in the house. I decided now would be as good as any to update the firmware in an attempt to make it connect to a phone. At this point I realized that I had formatted my computer recently and did not have express installed to do the update. I downloaded the latest version and went through the wizard to connect the device. It discovered the device but when I went to enter her account information an error popped up stating that it couldn't connect to the garmin servers. Thinking it might have something to do with my VPN software I tried from 2 other computers. Same thing. I've even attempted from a different internet location to rule out mine as the problem. I have tried registering both devices under 2 different accounts. The same error message occurs. I've even gone through the trouble of master resetting one of the devices. When will this issue be fixed?
