City Navigator Europe - update 2015.30 fails to install

I've tried several times now to install the latest map update (2015.30), but the install hangs every time at 88% on the green progress bar in Garmin Express. I'm on a 60Mb cable internet connection, and I've cancelled all other non-essential software running in the background via SysInternals Process Explorer.

I've also reinstalled Garmin Express, making sure it is the latest version (3.2.21.0), and I've also deleted my Nuvi and re-associated it in the new verison of Express - but none of this makes any difference.

Anyone else having this problem?

Any ideas what to do? Do I have to use Garmin Express to download/install map updates, or is there another way?

    • This may already be correct on the computer but please make sure the Date & Time are set correctly.
    • Next when reviewing the logs the Express version for these logs is 3.2.18. Please update to the latest version of Express which is 3.2.21. See FAQ: How do I update Garmin Express?
    • The last thing it appears that you are having some download issues. What I mean by this is the download starts and during the download your internet speed seems to just drop off. You may want to try resetting your modem & and or router.

    Yes, I've tried all of this above AND I've also had a very detailed answer from Brandon in Garmin UK Support, following the submission of logs from Garmin Express which I sent through. I've just replied in detail to Brandon, confirming that I have followed his instructions exactly, i.e.

    1. Deleted the association between my Nuvi and Garmin Express.
    2. Uninstalled Garmin Express and re-installed with the latest version 3.2.21.0. I also did the uninstall of Garmin Express using Revo Uninstaller Pro, followed by a full clean using CCleaner Pro, a registry clean and finally a full PC restart.
    3. Re-associated my Nuvi in Garmin Express.
    4. Opened Garmin Express and started a new Install Map Update process.

    NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL! THE DOWNLOAD OF THE MAP UPDATE STILL FAILS & HANGS AT EXACTLY 88% OF THE DOWNLOAD PROGRESS BAR.

    I've been able to download several other >1Gb files today from my Google Drive, and I have also downloaded large files from other sites with absolutely no problems. My internet speed via Speedtest.Net is consistently in the 60Mb range, with a direct cable connection to the router. The router has been reset several times - this makes absolutely no difference either. If I can download other, very large files, then why is this problem just happening with Garmin Express?

    I'm attaching 2 screenshots, one showing that I'm using the latest version of Garmin Express, and secondly a screenshot of Garmin Express (latest version!) which is STILL hanging/freezing at exactly 88% of the map download progress stage. FYI, it only took about 10-12 minutes for the map download to reach 88% before it froze again at 88%. You can then see that I left Garmin Express alone, uninterrupted and with no other programs running for over 32 minutes. Nothing happened, so I finally had to cancel the installation and quit Garmin Express.

    I cannot believe that I can be the only person experiencing this or similar problems.

    Try deleting MAP-EU-2015-30 folder from C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Core Update Service then starting the update again. This will cause Express to download a fresh copy of everything again. Your initial logs show that the download was stuck on the gmap3d.img file. The file is saved on the computer in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Core Update Service\MAP-EU-2015-30.

    We know that the file is on the Garmin Servers and is valid. If your system continues to get stuck on this file I suggest you contact Garmin Support by phone. Do not close Exress or stop the update process before calling. They may be able to download the file using the multithread URL in the CoreService Logs.

    I am trying to install North America 2015.30 and I am having the same thing happen. It gets stuck at file 205 of 206 and will not progress at all...............Never had problem until now. I also have lifetime updates
