Forerunner 310XT wont upload without re-pairing every time

Garmin Express is driving me mad! I used to be able to sync workouts from my Forerunner 310XT with no problems but over a month ago when a new version of GE auto updated on my desktop it just refuses to upload any workouts without me going through the following (this was suggested in a post I found on a google search from another exasperated user)...
- launch Garmin Express, from drop down pick 'add new device'
- GE searches and finds another Forerunner 310XT which is 'not compatible with Express' and offers me an 'ignore button' which I press
- I go to drop down again and pick 'add new device', this time it finds another Forerunner 310XT with the same serial number as the one it already lists! I click 'add device' button
- GE starts a pairing process and I need to click the button 'I want to sync to exisiting account', I then need to put in my Garmin account logon details
- Finally GE deigns to upload my workout :(

I keep checking for newer versions of GE which may fix this bug, but after many different versions there is no solution to this nightmare (I am on the latest and greatest GE v3.2.19.0
If anyone knows of any other workarounds I would love to try them out as I am on the point of ditching Garmin forever and getting something else that is easier and reliable to upload.
(BTW I have tried the upload on 3 different computers, 2 running Win7 and one running Win8.1 and so am confident it is a GE issue)

@Curt - why can't you just say there is a bug & you need to (re)pair the device each time you want to transfer data instead of "I sent you PM"? Maybe you could send out an email so that folks won't spend 30 minutes trying to figure it out.

Please make sure that you are using the latest version of Garmin Express (v3.2.25). See the following FAQ for update instructions:
How do I update Garmin Express?

Once you have the latest version of Garmin Express, please remove the device from Express and pair it one more time. Let me know if you are still having this issue.

Generally when we PM someone it is to request the Garmin Express log files which requires us to generate a unique code. If we post these requests in the forum, the code may be used by someone else.

    Hi,
I had the same issue with my 310xt, having to re-pair my device every time wit GE. I also found that workouts, udates to personal data etc wouldn't upload or down load. Wased hours and hours faffing about with various suggestions to change my security setting on browser, restting my device, deleting all the data etc. All to no avail. Very frustrating to say the least. Here's how I finally overcame the issue:

Bear in mind that both GE and mydevice software was fully up to date at this point according to GE.

    I exited GE.
Went to the system tray and exited GE from there too (I THINK THIS IS THE IMPORTANT BIT)
    Logged out of Garmin connect.
    Restarted GE

At this point I was presented with a warning banner advising that GE needed to shut down to instal an update so I selected whatever button it was to say OK (can't quite remember the details).
GE restarted and did and went through a re-instal ending with the startup routine to re-pair the device.

From this point on everything has been fine. My device synch's activities automatically, my workouts synch up and down, my personal data synch's up with no problems.

I hope the above helps some of you other frustrated users.

I think next time GE downloads an update I'll try and remember to close the system tray icon to hopefully avoid any repeat of this experience.
  • From one day to the other I cant run Garmin Express at all! This is the message i get...
  • Have you updated Express? See this sticky which shows the same error message as you're getting:
