Garmin 310XT will not transfer data during sync

This is pathetic. I have yet to upload data for over a month now, on my watch and my fiance's watch as well. The ANT+ was working fine, then we swapped to Garmin Express and removed everything. It glitchy the first few times we transferred data a few months ago. It came to the point that I had to remove the device and resync each time to upload information. Now, a month later. I cannot transfer my data. My express service seems to be in an eternal transferring data state, on the first activity to load. I tried deleting that activity, thinking it might have corrupted, but still nothing. I have uninstalled everything garmin on my computer and reinstalled express. To no success, it is still hung up on transferring an activity I DELETED.

I am out of ideas, other than finding another company that doesn't have such pitiful software.
  • If you were previously uploading data with the ANT Agent and had started having trouble after installing Garmin Express, delete the device from Express then clean up the left over ANT Agent data. Pair the device with Express again and your uploads should resume.

    1. Delete the contents of the C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devic es\
    1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
    2. Type this exactly, %Appdata%
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Open the Devices folder
    6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)

    2. Delete the contents of the LegacyProxy folder located in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\LegacyProxy folder
    1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
    2. Type this exactly, %Programdata%
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Open the LegacyProxy folder
    6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)

    3. Restart the computer

    4. Pair the device and creating a couple of short 1 min test activities.

If you continue to have troubles I suggest you contact us by phone: http://www.garmin.com/us/support/

  • Well, I did these steps. Hopeful that they would work. But unfortunately, it seems that I cannot still transfer my data. It's odd, it seems that my watch is recognized, but the moment I attempt to transfer the data. It gets hung up on transferring the first file.

My girlfriend's watch does however, upload just fine though.
  • UPDATE

I have uninstalled the usb info from it, now I am able to connect the watch and get the "pair with express" message. Though I am still hung up on the first piece of data from my watch to transfer over that I DELETED. Not sure how to get out of this loop so I can upload the 10 other activities I need to upload.

How do I fix this same issue on a mac?
  • I have just bought a Forerunner 310XT. I cannot registered the 310XT into the Garmin Express. It is able to detect the device but it got stuck with the Garmin Express showing a loading animation icon during synchronisation with my register Garmin account and the 310XT showing "Transferring Data". I tried exiting the Garmin Express and it shows a message prompt to contact garmin support. Is the Garmin server having issue or is it the Garmin Express having issue? Please advise. Thank you. • Not able to sync complete data on 310XT

HI, I have been using Garmin 310XT and it worked all fine for couple of months. later it stopped sync with Garmin connect website and when i googled the issue, i came across above post. I have done all above steps:

deleted my device from garmin express.
    updated garmin express software.
deleted numbered folders as per above steps in garmin folder.
    restarted my 310XT and computer.

but still I can uplaod my last activity only and it doesnt upload 8 to 10 activities I have on my watch.

please support as I need urgently tract and analyse before my upcoming race.

Use the Transfer All menu on the 310XT to resend the data. Mode-->History-->Transfer All. This will push all the data from the watch to Express. Express should only upload data that is no present in Connect.

  • Since express I have started taking longer to upload data than the actual event itself. I realise the 310 is probably old hat and not garmin's main

It appears that the 310xt is now uploading at least 45 different parts which I presume is either the break down of the segments or the new functionality of the new connect console.

Either way, I would expect the uploads to be better than before rather than worse. If there is new functionality, the old stuff has to work just as well.

Anyone else got some really long upload times while using 310xt and garmin express, any idea how to shorten the process.

I have the same problem... deleted device, uncoupled, checked for software update... but no progress. 310 spends 40 minutes sync ing and fails at 98% complete. Then it goes into a loop of trying to sync (shorter , with expected download time of 2 minutes) , getting 42% through it, and then "Sync failed" again and again (ad infinitum, until you unplug it). Its a mystery. I've spent a wasted afternoon on it, and am completely fed up. Am giving up.
