Garmin 310XT will not transfer data during sync

This is pathetic. I have yet to upload data for over a month now, on my watch and my fiance's watch as well. The ANT+ was working fine, then we swapped to Garmin Express and removed everything. It glitchy the first few times we transferred data a few months ago. It came to the point that I had to remove the device and resync each time to upload information. Now, a month later. I cannot transfer my data. My express service seems to be in an eternal transferring data state, on the first activity to load. I tried deleting that activity, thinking it might have corrupted, but still nothing. I have uninstalled everything garmin on my computer and reinstalled express. To no success, it is still hung up on transferring an activity I DELETED.

I am out of ideas, other than finding another company that doesn't have such pitiful software.

    I am sorry that you are having issues syncing your 310XT with Express. I would first make sure that you are both using the latest version of Garmin Express. The latest update improved the way that the 310XT is handled by Express. To check for updates:
    • Open Garmin Express
    • Click the Gear icon in the upper right
    • Click Check for Application Updates in the About Garmin Express section
    • Click Install Now if prompted

  • I'm still using ANT and Garmin connect and when I connect the USB stick my watch uploads into Training center with no problem, then it starts trying to upload to Garmin Connect and it never finishes. A while ago (when it was released) I tried to use Garmin Express but the first thing it did was tell me I had Windows XP and that an unspecified future update would make Garmin Express useless to an XP user. The second thing it did was fail to recognise my ANT USB and then failed to connect in exactly the same way - it tried but never succeeded.
    I did the sensible thing and uninstalled Express and went back to Connect which has continued to work until last few weeks when it either doesn't connect to my Garmin Connect account to transfer data or it just doesn't bother trying to connect at all (data just goes to training center). In either case I can manually upload using the button on my Garmin Connect CLASSIC page.

    What I'd like to ask is whether Express would solve this automatic upload problem, and whether Express would work for me this time instead of failing to detect or connect to my Watch from the outset - looking at this thread I'd say the answer is still "no" - and whether, if I tried Garmin Express again, at some undefined future date an update will render Express non functional because I am still using XP thus preventing me from uploading activities to my connect page?

    My Garmin device is about half way through its advertised battery life and it wasnt cheap but if I cant upload my data anymore because I am XP user what will Garmin do for me then?
  • Just updated the garmin express software version to 3.2.21.0 with version 4.50 on the device. this is on a windows 7 machine with IE 11. it flies!!! so not sure what was done, but it works much better.

    I'm having the same issue... I have a 310xt as well, exact same problem..
  • So did you follow the advice given that resolved that issue apart from one rogue (and probably corrupted) file?


    Also ensure Express is up to date and that (if you have updated it) you have deleted then reassociated your device with Express.

    Yes, I followed the instructions, still same problem. Yes, Express is up to date.

    Are you using the 'modern' Garmin Connect?
