No readings from BC-10000 since Vivofit & Express Install

Hi there.

Have 2 Garmin FR60's collecting data from a Tanita BC-10000, uploading it to Garmin Connect and then to Tanita Healthy Edge software on two different accounts each day. Has worked flawlessly and is a super system.

Today installed a new Vivofit which then pushed me to install Garmin Express. I believe it has de-installed the old ANT+ software. Certainly I cannot see it anymore.

Vivofit working well and the new Express software and web console looks super.

However....when the FR60's collect data from the BC 10000, it uploads it to Garmin Connect (automatically) but nothing more.

Up until three hours back, it would then populate the Tanita Healthy Edge software which it has done daily for the last couple of years.

I'm somewhat stuck on this. What I have tried:

1. Swapped new ANT stick (supplied with Vivofit) back to old ANT+ stick that came with FR60. - did not fix

2. Checked Update level of ALL devices - as it goes they were all up to date, hardware & software

3. Have logged to Garmin support and received email to acknowledge.

4. Checked relationship between PC and BC-10000 and directly it updates perfectly - although a pain in the ass to do as an alternative

Bit of a shame this part not operating as should be as all the components look excellent and the new interfaces also. It is possible I have configured wrongly but I don't think so as only changes were those prompted by the Vivofit. It took the shine off my £120 odd quid purchase a bit but support from Garmin in the past has been very good so I'm confident a solution lives out there somewhere:)

Would be very grateful for help from anyone at Garmin or anyone else who has had and fixed this it or worked around.

All the best

Unfortunately Express and ANT Agent do not get along and shouldn't be installed on the same PC. Since we are really trying to figure out what folder the Healthy Edge software looks for the files in we may have to try a couple of things. I have looked on their website and can't find any specifics for the FR60 but did find another device that saved the file in a Weight folder. So create a new folder inside the UnitID folder called Weight then put the .fit files in there.

    OLD Garmin ANT Agent: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devices\UnitID\Weight

If the Weight folder doesn't work can you attach one of those .fit files to a reply?

Hi Curt.....no problem, was just thinking out loud a bit.

Yes will give that a go. Will struggle to do that for a few hours unfortunately as away from base right now but soon as back will do both actions.

Many thanks again for the support, will be in touch asap

I did get it to work on my computer once I placed the .fit file in the Weight folder. The name of the file shouldn't matter but I did change it to the UnitID of my FR60. Example: 1011402.fit

Healthy Edge software immediately saw it and imported the measurments.

Hi Curt.....the man's a genius! :-) ..... yes as you say by adding the weight directory and pasting the files in, it works spot on.

It does not seem to matter if there is a .fit extension or not. Created 'weight' directories under both FR60 unitID directories and Healthy Edge picked up all measurements for both accounts. Super stuff.

So looking good. Does this mean that I need to do the cut & paste routine every time we take readings via FR60 or will this be automatic now Curt?

Also can I just confirm that there is an active discussion between the two companies to make a proper fix in a future release? Tanita say they have contacted Garmin. I understand you probably cannot say 'when' the revision might happen but if you can at least confirm that it will (or will not) happen...good or bad, that would be a big help.

    Thanks again Curt

Sorry wrong file attached...and for some reason won't allow me attach the correct one. Was just a screen shot showing locations, action and Healthy Edge result

You would only have to manually copy/paste the file when you get data from the scale. I would just create a short cut for each folder on the desktop which would make it easy to copy and paste the file from one to the other. Garmin Connect still works and supports uploading data from the Tanita scale. The data is uploaded to Garmin Connect as it is designed. It is completely up to Healthy Edge to modify their software so it will look in the new directory. Unfortunately I have no idea what they will decide to do with that. Glad you got the work around functioning.
