Garmin Express unable to install Australia & NZ 2015.10 Maps

Hi

Purchased a Nuvi 2545 LMT a couple of days ago and finally got around to (trying to) install everything necessary tonight, but with limited success.

I have installed Garmin Express, and registered the product. When Garmin Express was installing it identified some necessary updates. All of those updates have worked except for the map update, when trying to install I get a message almost instantly stating "There was an error installing Full Coverage of Australia and New Zealand 2014.40"

I have searched threads elsewhere on this site for an answer with no luck. I have tried running as administrator but it made no difference. I tried the install quite a number of times.

The thing I do not understand is that I would have thought the product would already come with that map installed. When I log into https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/customers/myMapsHome.htm, it tells me that I have "City Navigator Aus & NZ NT 2014.40-HERE - Map+P+HT+PA+LA,Jan 14".

However, when I use the device itself, in the My Maps section, nothing is listed. I do not understand how this can be.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Garmin Express, no difference. I originally tried downloading the maps to both the device and the PC. After I uninstalled and re-installed, I tried to download just to the device, no luck there either, I just keep getting the exact same error as stated above.

I saw on another thread someone asking if another person with a similar problem had not thought to do a backup first, in my case their was no opportunity, as the setup process led me to this point.

Can anyone offer a solution please?

PS Is there any way to change my username? I would prefer to use an alias rather than my email address. There doesn't seem to be an option in settings... :(

As for the maps, there is an issue with that map, see this thread https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?35362-Map-update-problem-with-Garmin-Express/page22

Hopefully one of the Express team will be along shortly and should be able to help.
  • It looks like there may have been a data issue on our end that is now resolved. Can you please retry the install of Australia/New Zealand?

    Hello Sam

Thanks for replying. I re-tried and the download has been successful. The map is now installed on the device. Thank you.
  • Assuming you're talking about the Aus & NZ maps then yes, there appears to be a problem still, see the latest posts in this thread https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?86412-Problems-updating-to-CN-NA-2015-10&p=325921#post325921

At this time the issue with the Aus & NZ mapping should be specific to the installation of maps to the computer only. If you are performing a map update to the device only this option should work. If you select the option computer only or device & computer the computer option will fail. The option for the device should complete successfully. I have looked up the device you have registered in your account and the device is preloaded with mapping.

I have sent you a private message to have you provide your log files from Express so I can better understand your issue.

  • Update to Device only doesn't work, at least for me. Still getting the Download failed. I just tried again.

    2497LMT trying to get AUNZ2015.10

When I originally first tried with my new GPS out of the box I had Computer & Device selected. The system update to 4.40 worked, as did the Computer map download. The Device download failed. Garmin Express also deleted my factory maps leaving me with the world base map. Garmin Express thinks that my GPS has successfully updated to AUNZ2015.10 so now I have the option to reinstall the maps, which aren't on my device.

I've tried on my home laptop - Windows 8.1u Pro x64 and my work PC, Windows 7 Ultimate x32. I've tried removing the device from GE, tried completely removing GE. I've tried resetting my GPS

Even trying the GarminMapUpdater tool results in the app crashing at the ~83% mark. Restarting the GMU tool it appears to check what files are downloaded, starts trying to download the remaining then crashes again.

As a band-aid fix I can send the AUNZ2015.10 maps to my device from Basecamp but I don't get Junction View, etc.

I've been having the same issues updating to AUNZ2015.10 as described above.
Sam or Mike, if you need my log files from Express let me know how to send them and I will.

    Hello Mike,

I have a Garmin Nuvi 3597, and I am still having problems in installing the maps (AU+NZ) on the device only.

Garmin Express tries for a few second to update the device:

    And then it fails:

Is there any information I can provide you so that you can try to help me ?

    Thanks.

Same problem here - brand new Garmin Nuvi 55LMT does not update to ANZ 2015.10 maps.
Tried Garmin Express (both PC & Mac versions) keep getting "There was a problem communicating with the Garmin servers. Please try again later."

Also tried using Garmin MapUpdate (again both PC & Mac version) but it stalls and quits without installing anything.
Called Garmin Australia tech support, was told there is a problem with their servers / maps, asked to send in log files etc. That was last week, haven't heard back since...
