Garmin Express PC won't pair/upload.

Well, it would appear that my celebration was premature and the fix temporary.

After shutting down my PC last night and taking a short walk with the 410 today, I find that I am back to re-pairing after every re-boot.

It is important to note the my 410 NEVER worked right with Garmin Express. It was only beginning with the latest release that it worked AT ALL. Still, I am sure that this is not the way Garmin intended for it to work and I am pretty sure my situation is not unique.

If any of the rest of you 410 users that are reading this are having a similar problem, please chime in.

I believe there is a permissions issue between Garmin Express and the current User Account on the computer. This permissions problem allows Express to create the folder for the device on the computer but once the computer restarts denies it access to the existing folder. The instructions from Mike on #22 should correct the permissions issue. You will want to pair after completing the instructions then restart the computer. If this fails to correct the problem I suggest you contact us by phone when you have some time. http://support.garmin.com

Thanks Curt. This worked. But not without collateral damage.

I did exactly as instructed. Shut down the PC. Fired it back up without bringing up GC or bringing GE to the fore. Did a test activity. Walked back in the room and the 410 automagically began transferring data.

Then I brought up GC and realized my VF had not yet been synced today. Tried to sync and could not. Realized GE was no longer "aware" of my VF. Re-paired it. Synced it.

Next, I realized GE was no longer "aware" of my Edge either. Decided to leave well enough alone for now. I'll re-pair the Edge after I use it next.

If all of this keeps working, I'll just disappear from his thread. If not, I'll be back with the certainty of death and taxes :).

After going through the frequent re-pairings, I took the 610 ant stick to another computer and downloaded GE. I've been syncing seemlessly with the vivofit on one computer and 610 on another to my one Garmin account. It's not ideal, but much less of a hassle than the re-pairing.
