I'm using a Forerunner 410 on a Windows 7 Enterprise using Chrome Version v35.0.1916.153 m. Garmin Express forced an install and now I got nothin'. How do I get Ant Agent back or how do I get GE to work?
I've got the same set-up and the same problem except the 410 synced flawlessly ONCE after the upgrade to GE V3.2.7.0. Ever since then, every sync requires a new pairing and every pairing is a time-consuming touch and go affair.
Curt, I cannot delete something that is not there. I repeat ... every time I open Express my 410 is no longer listed. I have to pair it again from scratch. This just started with 3.2.7.0.
I had an issue pairing both my 610 and vivofit. Ultimately, I had to do a master reset of the 610 which fixed the problem. I have to say, I attempted to use Garmin support and the timing and responses weren't very helpful. I've been pairing fine for a few days, now the vivofit isn't uploading. I'll try to pair it again.
When Express pairs with a device it creates a couple of folders on the computer. The contents of the folder represent the Device in the actual Express application. If the folders exist Express knows the has been paired. If you open Express and see the "Get Started" screen then there is something going on with the contents or locations of these folders. If Express doesn't know the device has been paired then the folders must be getting deleted or contain some corrupt data. Lets delete these folders and hopefully remove any corrupt data. I also recommend a Master Reset on the 410 before you pair it up again.
Use these instructions to delete the folders. For Windows Vista, 7, and 8:
Press the Windows + R key
Type %Programdata% and click OK
Open the Garmin folder
Open the Core Update Service folder
Open the Sync folder
Delete the contents of the Sync folder
In the Garmin folder above there is also a LegacyProxy folder. Delete the contents of that as well.
2nd Location:
Press the Windows + R key
Type %appdata% and click OK
Open the Garmin folder
Open the Devices folder
Delete the contents of the Devices folder
Do the Master Reset on the Forerunner 410 then create a test run of 1 or 2 minutes and pair it with Express again.
How do I master reset my Forerunner 410, 405CX or 405?
If you pair the 410 after all this and continue to have troubles. Visit all the 3 locations and collect the contents of the folders and reply to this message.
Similar issue but on the "Send to device" function. Now impossible to send to device. New Garmin Express doesnt does it seamlessly and since old com has been removed during installation - sending to device just display that "No compatible devices found." Uploading from watch is no issue. So I do think its a bug - would be great if it was fixed. i wished i could find old com see if it works
Also I cant see the planned worked details on the calendar in modern display - it works fine in the old one. Im in china so connection might not be super fast but hell - this is annoying.

Thank you for this more potentially relevant approach to solving my problem.
I have logged three Activities so far today with my 410. The first time I had to go through the whole goat rodeo of re-pairing. The next two times, all I had to do was walk into the room and it synced automagically like, I guess, it should have always done.
Should I go ahead and try the things you suggested or wait to see if it breaks again?
I did continue to have issues. Basically, if I shut down my computer, I would be forced to re-pair. That could take as many as nine attempts for success.
So I finally bit the bullet and implemented your proposed sync folder devices folder wipe out with great trepidation about what I was going to be faced with on the other side of this "fix".
Turned out the whole thing was fast and painless. Went out and logged a fast run on my 410; returned and it synced automagically WITHOUT having to be re-paired. The Vivofit also synced without issues (I thought that was going to have to be re-paired too.)
I guess there will be another test after I shut down my machine again, log some new activities, and sync but that will have to wait until tomorrow.
Until then ... a tentative THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I'll follow-up later in the week.
