Garmin Express 3.1.7.0 - Annoying Windows XP End Of Life Notification - please remove

Dear Garmin,

I would like to ask you to either remove this annoying End-of-Life Windows XP Notification that started cropping up earlier this week in Garmin Express or alternatively add 'Acknowledge' button so the message can disappear completely.

I understand that current version of Garmin Express I use (3.1.7.0) is still fully compatible and supported under Windows XP, I therefore don't see any reason why such notification needs to be displayed permanently on my system.

It's entirely up to me what I intend to do with this situation in the longer term, I merely ask you not to join the 'Upgrade your OS now' bandwagon as everyone else seemingly does.

Your sincerely,

...

  • So, we're on 3.2.17.0 now and it's nearly 4 months since I started this thread - and the message still stubbornly sits there and no option to get it rid from there.

    Any update?
  • It will remain there until it's no longer applicable. If it doesn't folks will complain Garmin withdrew support without warning :)

I am a Linux user and use XP in a virtual machine ONLY to connect my Garmin FR60. As I have absolutely no intention of giving M$ any money at all, should I stop the updates of Express (now 3.2.17.0) so it doesn't suddenly stop working?
  • If Express currently does what you need then I'd stop it :)

FYI: I just sucessfully installed and ran the latest Garmin Express on my XP Pro system without any install problems. Yes, I got the end of support notification. For now it works fine.

If at some point they do actually end support for XP, I will use my spouse's win 7 computer to update my Nuvi. My XP systems works just fine and I have no reason under the sun to do anything drastic to it. I'm not into upgrading just for the sake of upgrading when what I have works without problems. And I DO have win 7 install discs for my computer so I can upgrade anytime for free!

There are a lot of XP users. I think we should look into a Class action Suit.
  • Really? On what basis? XP is no longer supported by Microsoft, so you'd need to take them on first.

3.2.21.0 runs fine on my XP machine could do without the up date OS msg. Also just got another update for XP from MS also
  • So, time is running fast and we're on 3.2.29.0 now (please update the release notes by the way as they have not been updated AGAIN).

    And, any update?

    What's the problem with either:

    * adding 'acknowledged' tick box to remove this?
    * or providing final XP-only / legacy version for everybody that is happy with it - and as this is exactly the case with BaseCamp?
  • Release notes are updated
