Garmin Express fails to work

I kept getting a message that Garmin Express could not connect to server although I have successfully used it in the past.

Thinking it was a software problem I uninstalled it and then downloaded a new copy.

Now, when I connect it, it first says that Device Found, and then goes on to say that "This device is not compatible with Express". It gives the correct name as Nuvi 2595 but does not add the serial number. (It IS definitely registered on My Garmin)

Any thoughts of how to get over this problem please?

I have the latest version it says! One that recognizes my register nuvi would be helpful though! My GE is set to update automatically and in any case it is a new download just to make sure. Thanks for the thought
  • Caution here ... I have mine set to update automatically, it never has ... latest is 3.0.9

I don't let any software from anyone automatically update. I either get notification or manually check myself and then update when it's convenient. I also keep older installers in case I need to go back. I've been doing stuff with computers for over 30 years and have learned some things :)

As far as manually updated v. auto update, I dont see it would help me, as if a box pops up saying a new update is available from Garmin Express I would say yes anyway (not knowing any better) I am sure you are experienced but you need to understand that I use a PC to do things and am not really interested in how it works, same with a television, as I really have not the interest in delving into the finer details of the machine! As for my sat nav I just want a simple box that is up to date and sticks on the windscreen to get me where I want to go so I really can do without the frustration of intended programs not doing what they are supposed to do first time.
  • Worth checking though to see if you're on 3.0.9 ... you may not be because in the past it's not always been the latest version that is available for download from the Express website? You need to check from within Express itself.

    The solution I have

    1) Down load maps using Garmin express - use just the download maps to computer option

    2) Use the Garmin Map install to push the maps to the device

Garmin tech support needs to look at this issue.

  • Does this work for watches as well? GE corrupted my FR945 yesterday while loading a map.
