Garmin Express server unavailable?

Hi everyone! I just got my Vivofit yesterday, but I can't start using it because whenever I try to pair it up with Garmin Express and connect to my account, I get the following error message: 'We're Sorry... There's a problem with our servers, which means Express is temporarily unavailable. We're working as fast as we can to get it back up and running. Please try again later.' Does anyone know if this is really a server issue or if I should just do something different? I read some threads suggesting that it might not always be a server issue. I already removed ANT Agent from my computer, but Garmin Communicator is still there. Could it be causing problems (or is it necessary while using Garmin Express)? Does the Vivofit only work with Garmin Express? I'd really like to get my Vivofit set up...
  • Hi, Just tried a sync with garmin Express, and found no problem, but i know sometimes the server is temporarily off line.
Make sure u hold the button on the vivofit untill "pair" starts flashing.

Do to my work i have about every piece of Garmin software on my PC, so u can leave ANT Agent on your PC, but the Vivofit
    does not require ANT Agent.

If u have a iphone/ipad u can also use that to setup your account.

u can try this video, it explains the set up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7dKYxj8hAk
  • If u still get the "There's a problem with our servers" wait for a day....

But u can try to remove every piece of Garmin software from your PC, than reboot
your PC and just install Garmin Express. Do plug in your ANT stick untill all is installed.
  • Oke, we learned one positive thing, the problem is with the servers, not with your PC.

May i ask which country your in?
  • Oke, i have a contact in Finland/Suomi. but i do not know if he has a ANT device to test
with. I'll ask him, give me a moment.

Finally got past the error message by creating a new account for Garmin Connect. It just didn't work with my old account for some reason. Thank you for your help, Mario!

A few days ago and again today I'm getting the error "We're Sorry... There's a problem with our servers, which means Express is ...". I'm using Garmin Express on my new Windows 7 PC and trying to upload data from my Forerunner 310 XT. With the same 310 XT on my old computer which had an older version of Garmin software, I was able to upload data to Garmin Connect.

I would really hate to think that the solution is to create a new account for myself on Garmin Connect. Wouldn't that mean I'd have to use my old account to see my previous data? The feature of being able to review my previous data is the whole reason I use Garmin Connect, and the feature would be essentially lost if I had to log into different accounts to see my own data. What should I do?

  • I am running into the same issue trying to setup Garmin Express a new iMac. I am able to find the device, and pair with it. When I am prompted to enter an account, I use my existing account credentials and then run into the server error.

I agree with THADANDERS, creating a new account isn't a feasible option as there is years of training data, routes, workouts, etc that I'm not willing to lose.

    FWIW:
    + I'm using a FR60
    + I previously used ANT+ Agent on a Windows 7 PC.
  • Getting the same server error message with my FR60 on a mac.

    Same issue here

I am having the same issue for over a week now with my 310XT on a PC. It stopped uploading data 2 weeks ago and when I repaired I started receiving the server unavailable message. I tried multiple times daily for a week, reset the 310XT (losing my data in the process so not happy) also tried deleting and reinstalling connect and finally after 9 days even exchanged for a new 310XT since I have only had it for a month. Same issue. I can't get in with my old garmin account or by creating a new one. I receive the same error message both times. So now I have a very expensive brick. :(

I was able to solve the problem with my Forerunner 310 XT by resetting the password on my Garmin Connect account and doing a master reset of my Forerunner 310 XT. I got the tip from https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?74556-310-XT-issue-with-Garmin-Express . Beware of losing data on your device if you do a master reset; fortunately I still had access to my old ANT software so could upload device data to Garmin Connect before resetting.

I am in USA and have been having this problem, as well. I just purchased the 310XT last week and continue having this issue. When I try to create a new account I get the same error. Is there a local desktop version if I don't want to use Connect? I just want to log and track my workout data. The reason I bought the 310XT in the first place. Very frustrating as I've wasted more than 90 minutes now installing, uninstalling, searching for solutions.
