Can't pair 610 to Garmin Express

I have installed Garmin Express (after uninstalling Ant Agent and Communicator). When trying to pair my 610 I get to the point where the watch asks me to confirm the pairing, which I do. But Express just says "Sorry, pairing could not be completed" and that I should allow syncing on the watch (!?). Meanwhile the watch has gone to a 'transferring data' screen which stays up for a couple of minutes.

I've gone around this merry go round a few times now. I'm giving up and am going back to Ant Agent. Don't know why they had to "fix" what wasn't actually broken.
  • The latest version of Garmin Express is not yet compatible with the Forerunner 410, 405, or the 305. The getting started page provides this information.
http://connect.garmin.com/en-US/start/. A future Garmin Express release will add compatibility for these devices.

I have the same issue. 610 connects and syncs via ANT Agent but never with GE (yes ive uninstalled etc etc). I've been hours through this process 3 months ago already, gave up and went back to ANT Agent. Great to see absolutely nothing has been done to fix it. Garmin I cant recommend you to anyone with such diabolical software development and support, ongoing for years now. Truly pathetic.

If you were previously uploading data with the ANT Agent and had started having trouble after installing Garmin Express, delete the device from Express then clean up the left over ANT Agent data. Pair the device with Express again and your uploads should resume.

    1. Delete the contents of the C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devic es\
    1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
    2. Type this exactly, %Appdata%
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Open the Devices folder
    6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)

    2. Delete the contents of the LegacyProxy folder located in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\LegacyProxy folder
    1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
    2. Type this exactly, %Programdata%
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Open the LegacyProxy folder
    6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)

    3. Restart the computer

    4. Pair the device and creating a couple of short 1 min test activities.
