Hello, I have always had great luck in updating maps until the latest version of Garmin Express. Express will not open, and I am unable to uninstall the program. The uninstallation starts and then stops, stating that the uninstall was not successful. Anyone having this issue. Running WIN XP, SP3. Thanks for any advice.
  • For software updates you can use WebUpdater
  • rmorin49 and others experiencing this issue,

If you are unable to uninstall Garmin Express from Programs and Features, please follow these instructions:

    • Click the Run now button
    • Click Run in Internet Explorer or download then open MicrosoftFixit.ProgramInstallUninstall.RNP.Run.exe[sup]1
    • [/sup]

    • Click Accept in the license agreement
    • Follow the provided instructions to select and uninstall the particular application

    When uninstalling Garmin Express select:
    • Garmin Express
    • Garmin Express Tray
    • Elevated Installer
    • Garmin Update Services (skip if not present)
    • ANT Drivers Installer x64

This program will need to be run again for each item on the list to be uninstalled. Once you have uninstalled Garmin Express, try installing the latest version of Express here: http://download.garmin.com/omt/express/B/GarminExpressInstaller.exe

Thanks. I'll give this a try. Appreciate your help. Unfortunately, the link to microsoft doesn't work. Anything else to try? I already tried the MicrosoftFixIt program. It didn't find anything to fix.

I am running Windows 7, 64 bit. I have Garmin Express v3.2.27.0 on my PC. It will not run and I cannot uninstall it. I also cannot install the newest version from Garmin's website. I get the same error message when I try to install or uninstall.

It is: Service 'Garmin Core Update Service' (Garmin Core Update Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

I am the only user of my PC and am also the Administrator. Can you help me?

How are you trying to uninstall GE? Detail the steps for us please.

Control Panel, Programs, Select Garmin Express, Uninstall.

When I do this it tries to install the program instead of uninstalling it. It then stops the installation and tells me I need to verify that I have privileges.

I get the same message when I try to install the latest version of Garmin Express.

I tested the Microsoft page and it is working for me. Try the direct link to the download: http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9779673 . There are many Microsoft Fix it tools. This one will give you a list of applications and allow you to uninstall them using the instructions that I provided in my last post.

If you are getting the error that the Core Update Service can't be started, also make sure that Administrators have full read/write access to C:\ProgramData\Garmin and all sub-folders.
