Hello, I have always had great luck in updating maps until the latest version of Garmin Express. Express will not open, and I am unable to uninstall the program. The uninstallation starts and then stops, stating that the uninstall was not successful. Anyone having this issue. Running WIN XP, SP3. Thanks for any advice.

I'd try re-installing GE and see if that allows you uninstall it.

    I recommend using GarminMapUpdater instead.

    GarminMapUpdater (PC)

    GarminMapUpdater (Mac)

I am having the same issue. Tried using Explorer and Chrome. Neither will let me uninstall my old version which won't run. I can't install the new version from Garmin's website. This is really frustrating. Can anyone help?
  • You should be able to uninstall via Control Panel in Windows?

Once you've done so here is a direct link to Express http://download.garmin.com/omt/express/B/GarminExpressInstaller.exe

Tried this numerous times. Keep getting an error message. Verified that my .NET was up to date. No luck. Can't install the newest version and can't uninstall the old one. I am dead in the water and very frustrated.
  • I'm confused. Where are you getting the error message, when you try to uninstall the older version? If so what does it say?

I am running Windows 7, 64 bit. I have Garmin Express v3.2.27.0 on my PC. It will not run and I cannot uninstall it. I also cannot install the newest version from Garmin's website. I get the same error message when I try to install or uninstall.

It is: Service 'Garmin Core Update Service' (Garmin Core Update Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

I am the only user of my PC and am also the Administrator. Can you help me?
  • Try this:

    1. Press the Windows key+R
    2. Type "services.msc" and press Enter
    3. Locate and right-click Garmin Core Update Service (or Garmin Device Interaction Service)
    4. Click Properties
    5. Click on Log On tab
    6. Select This account
    7. Click Browse
    8. Type Network Service
    9. Click Check Names
    10. Click OK
    11. Remove all text from both password fields
    12. Click OK
    13. Click OK again
    14. Right-click Garmin Core Update Service and Click Stop
    15. Right-click Garmin Core Update Service and Click Start

Unfortunately, nothing starting with "Garmin" appears in the list of services.
  • Well that might explain the issue. I have no idea what to suggest next, should be about time that the Express team pop in and they will be able to help further.

Thanks, I think that I probably deleted some of the files as the program does not show up in the list of Programs when I look at "My Computer" but it does still show up when I tried to uninstall it using the standard Windows procedure. I am not very computer savvy so I don't know how to completely remove all of the files associated with the program so I could start all over. I was able to download the Garmin Map Update link and was able to load the latest US maps onto my Nuvi 2555. Not sure how I will get any program or firmware updates without Express. Hopefully someone from Garmin can and will help. I sure appreciate you trying to help me.
