Garmin Express fails to open

I have tried that from two PCs and all it does is send you to the page to download Garmin Express.

myMaps page tells me my installed maps are two versions old (.10) and a download button (that only points to Garmin Express) - but Garmin Express says they are up to date - endless loop :confused:

When you get to that page click on Download Garmin Express. If its already installed it then opens mapupdater which will then update your maps.

A friend was testing Express the other day and it appears that Express does not update the computer; only the navigation device. And it does not appear to give you the options that the updater does for those things. He also discovered that it does not support Mobile PC which the updater still does.

Every time I try to open Garmin Express, it says that an error has occured and the program needs to close. I have uninstalled and re-installed to no avail. Please help. Is there an alternate way for me to get the maps to my device?

It has happened to me too. What did you do? I coudnt fix it!

Just continue to use Mapupdater for the time being. It still works and is available on Garmin's site.

It would be really nice if someone from Garmin would come on here and let us know if they plan to fix these things or not.....

I apologize that you are experiencing difficulties with this process.Unfortunately this option will only be visible if there is not enough internal memory on the Nuvi device to hold the entire City Navigator North America NT mapping. I'm showing that your Nuvi 3490LMT has an internal drive of 8GB, which is enough to hold the Full Coverage mapping.

Basecamp does not require the mapping to be downloaded to the computer. It will read the mapping from the device while it is plugged into the computer.

That really is a backward step IMO.

Many users want to download the maps to their PC so they don't have to plug in their GPS. Until GE offers that option up front and regardless of space available on the GPS I will be sticking with MapUpdater :)
