"There was a problem connecting to the Garmin servers" - Garmin Express error setting up new device

Trying to setup my new Garmin Fenix 8. Connected it to my computer via USB and installed the latest version of Garmin Express. My device is recognized but when I try to connect I get this error:

> There was a problem connecting to the Garmin servers.

> We're unable to sign you in because our servers are unav ilable at this time.

However, I can login to Garmin Connect online without issues so I know there's not an issue with the Garmin servers...

I'm using Garmin Express version 7.23.0.
