Activities not synching with Garmin Express after 7.20.0.0 & 7.20.3.0 updates

When I opened Garmin Express last night to upload my latest activity I was prompted to update to version 7.20.0.0. I did so and now I'm getting a permanent error:

"There was an error synching with Garmin Connect"

....and my activity obviously didn't upload to Garmin Connect.

Everything was ok the previous day before the update so what has occurred?

Why on earth would they introduce an error into Ant+ dongle connections???

Thanks Darren, awesome! I see there's several versions between my old 7 16.3.0 and the new 7.20.0.0 that I updated to the other day. I'll go with skipping straight back to 7.16.3.0 as the others in between must be for other types of PC

EDIT - I eventually confirmed this to be true, the versions between 7.16.3.0 and 7.20.0.0 had various niggles when I installed a random couple of versions.

I uninstalled 7.20 and installed 7.19.0 from the link provided by Darren.

This immediately solved the problem with synchronization error.

Garmin, y'all need to get some developers at their desks.

To reiterate, my device is a Vivofit 4 which uses an ANT+ via USB ("M/N: ANTUSB-m") which is probably ~6 years old, and I'm using Windows. The problem appeared exactly upon install of 7.20 and was solved upon installing 7.19.

Note that uptodown.com is not an official Garmin site, but I can confirm that the 7.19 (from November 8th 2023) from the site, is digitally signed, and was scanned and passed by virustotal.com (by me).

Side note: Usually there's a couple of days interval between synchronizing and offloading data from my Vivofit 4. Almost every single time I have to start syncrhonization on the watch 2 or 3 times before the progress bar appears and I get the green 'Synchronization completed" message. It might be related to the amount of data on the watch (several days worth) but I haven't tested it consistently.
This is clearly a bug, but not that big of a deal. But maybe someone at Garmin reads this thread on this special occasion and fixes it finally :o). Today I had to do that again, and there's only steps data up to March 1st, so maybe the watch ran out of memory :-/

The following thread (https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mac-windows-software/f/garmin-express-windows/362578/after-updating-garmin-express-7-20-0-0-maps-cannot-be-installed-on-pc) suggested running GE as administrator and it worked for me without having to revert to a previous version. At least I didn't get the "There was an error synching with Garmin Connect" message in the red bar. I got the "sync complete" message in the green bar instead. Hope this works for more than just me.

Hi, Installed 7.19....same issue. But when I user Run as Admin 7.19 recognized the ANT again....I have no clue maybe a WIN update caused something. I'll try later to use 7.20 again and see if it also works with Run as Admin...
