How do you correct the index of podcasts in Garmin Express

I can't figure how to sync add or remove podcasts to my vivoactive watch using Garmin Express.

I have iTunes installed on my Windows PC and I have my podcasts folder in Garmin Express picking up podcasts from both the pc's downloads folder and also iTunes folder.

On my watch, there are two podcasts marked green (available) in garmin express. But these do not show up in the watch's podcast list and do not exist in the watch's podcast folder when I connect the watch to the PC (USB). Because they're marked as green I can't reclick the checkbox on Garmin Connect to import them.

So how do I sync the Garmin Express's database with the files that really exist on the watch?

  • Support confirmed that the podcast-handling is dodgy, but they did provide a work-around. You have to de-install Garmin Express and re-install again. This, unfortunately, does NOT re-index the database, but it does delete all flags showing a podcast is on the watch.

In other words, after re-installing Garmin Express the non-existent podcast is marked as an empty checkbox, so that I can add it to my watch again, but the other podcasts that were on the watch are also shown as empty checkboxes.

I guess you have to use the Windows File Manager to delete podcasts from your watch, and periodically de-install and re-install Garmin Express to keep it more-or-less in synch.

  • I guess a simple drag 'n drop would be too much to ask? We've got to have two systems, each bad on their own and incompatible together, keep trying to communicate?
