run data not syncing

ran with Venu SQ + Garmin HR Dual.  As I was running the watch was recording info correctly.  When I finished the run, I saved the activity & it said it was saved.  It immediately showed the route & basics afterwards, including a calc. for VO2 Max, which is not something it always does.  The data on my run NEVER transferred to Connect???  When I go to history on my watch, it has all zeros and an incorrect time.  The history on my watch shows I did the activity ran, and it lists it about the time I ran, but it has no data attached to it.  The only thing that was different with this run than priors was some additional widget from Strava i had on the watch.  I have 3 fields of data, and this was on one of those fields.  I thought it would bring additional info to the Connect website, but instead it may have prevented the download?  Garmin shows the run under other readings (i met the intensity minutes due to the run), and shows my HR graph going up when I look at the day with HR (it shows the higher rates due to the run).   The watch starts recording running activity after 2 minutes, so it is logged my run with a grey runner initially, as the watch assumed a run.  What I don't get is where's the data?!  Why did it not sync??

After I ran and cooled down a bit, I took off the Garmin HR device.  This was after the run was saved & shown to me, and at that point, I figured it was saved everywhere & would be on Connect when I got home  Horror, it wasn't.

Thanks Garmin Community for any suggestions!

  • Both of these (2020-10-31-21-12-46.fit and 2020-10-31-13-59-50.fit) seem to be fine as is. Did you try to upload them to Garmin Connect?

not yet, but i will.  did they look like the missing link?  also, the O-file - anything with that?  that was what I had when i first connected the watch and computer.  it showed i had 2 files not sync. ...  thanks again!  you have been so amazingly helpful.  Garmin should be sending you boatloads of free stuff for all you do for them.

  • the O-file - anything with that?

Probably just diagnostic output. I'd ignore it.

OK thanks again. this was when I had tried to download and chose MS Outlook to open the file (that didn't work and I got the error).  YOU HAVE HELPED ME SO MUCH!!!  I can't believe you got some of the data back!! on my watch I did get the summary records after my run and saving the activity.  that's the weird thing.  when i saw the report on my watch i was like great - watch has it - i'll go home and review it.  turns out, it totally messed the sync and deleted the info from my watch.  thanks again so much!!
