Garmin Express 6.13.1.0 -> Add Device -> Sign In stuck

It is wasting time to wait for help from Garmin support people concerning software problems

after two days of trying to finally break through Garmin Express that either just gets stall without any message or gives the fake messages like Successfully installed
or Garmin Express is already installed when in reality there is no Express program folder in Program Files(86) I also found the solution of the Garmin Express Sign In to Garmin Connect stuck

after thorough uninstall of the Garmin Express 6.13.1.0 - solution described in my previous topic Garmin neither install nor uninstall - I installed older version Garmin Express 6.7.1.0 - what are Garmin programmers excellent in is that they just do not let you do what you want and need - starting this old version immediately puts on screen an update version message that cannot be closed and that gives you only one possibility - to install back update to the faulty 6.13.1.0 version - nevertheless I decided to "upgrade" - and - to my surprise after installing the requested update it was suddenly possible to sign in without any problem - aka the previous 6.7.1.0 version probably contains something that is missing in the current 6.13.1.0 version - so - provided it is true than the people who upgrade their older versions of Garmin Express to 6.13.1.1 do not experience the sign in problems but the people who start with 6.13.1.0 probably have will do

it is really shame for Garmin producing such excellent devices to equip them with the amateur software

I am using the Garmin devices already ten years - Garmin Colorado 300 - this fantastic device excellently managed by rock'n roller was quickly discontinued but I used it up to this year when I exchanged it for Garmin Oregon 700 jumping into a couple of trivial installation problems - but I see the same errors in Oregon firmware that I experienced with Garmin Colorado e.g. in calculating ETA, increasing time and distance to destination when getting close to destination etc. - I really do not understand the Garmin software policy
  • Never had an issue installing or updating Express, maybe there is a problem with your PC. Do you keep it up to date?

Re: waste of time to wait for help from Garmin support

I reached chat support yesterday who escalated my concern (good). I was told they would check and get back to me (good). Support went dead (bad).
I looked to chat again today. Chat out of order today (bad). Phone unavailable today (bad). Email 5-10 business day reply (bad); "try chat or phone" instead. (bad, bad).
Score so far, 2 good, 5 bad. In other words, a 28% positive rating. Nice products. Garmin has abysmal support.

Dear SUSSAMB, you probably did not catch the point - I believe you that you never had an issue installing or updating Express - now I also have no problem to install or update Express after installing and updating from the 6.7.1:0 version - but you do not believe me that it happened on the machine where no previous version of Express was installed apparently without trying to do so and see - there are enough posts here that never happened to you

This thread helped me a lot when looking after this issue.

Same issue here: My F3 was replaced and I stuck at same point when registering the new device. Have you seen mac users report this in their board, too?
Finally i was able to use old version, but first attempt failed after the forced update. A second attempt without internet connection avoided the update routine. When registering a message was displayed connection to their servers is not working. Then I have re-enabled the network and the popup provided a credential dialoge at new search.
I needed also urgenlty to re-add my second device Vivoactive 2: This, because this one has an issue with snycing Steps and HQ values with the Android app. GE is the only way.to get it properly to GC right now. BTW support knows that issue and is working on an update....

One more: I do not touch the settings area to avoid triggering the forced update.
And second more: Garmin does not offer old versions on their site. So I had to trust the only source i could find in the net...

Thanks for this post, it was very helpful - I was unable to sign in after installing Garmin Connect because it was stuck on "This may take a minute" with just a never ending loading circle. After looking through 7 forum posts of this very same issue with no solutions from anyone or Garmin, I tried your suggestion and installed an earlier version of the software....what do you know, it worked.

You are right, they are absolute amateur developers - this issue I was having was posted years ago and they clearly still haven't resolved it, and it's an issue they introduced with new updates!! Yet didn't bother to fix it.
