Garmin Dashcam 55 – Speed Cameras (UK) stopped working after Garmin Express update

Speed camera warnings and notifications had been working fine on the device until I completed the latest update via Garmin Express on the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] Jan.
Contacted support desk who firstly instructed a reinstall – this didn’t resolve the issue. Shared all relevant log files and details and no resolution.
Feedback from support desk was other users have also reported an issue.

One week on and still not working, no work around offered, no options to revert or downgrade Camera file versions and no time scales for when a fix will be provided. Really not good enough.

Any others having similar problems with camera warnings ceasing to work?
Any ideas on a work around?

DON’T UPDATE CAMERA FILES ON A DASHCAM 55.
If you were going to complete an update to the camera data I would suggest you don’t and hold off until this issue is resolved.
  • Both GE v6.9 and v6.10 indicated updated Cyclops waiting to be uploaded to my nuvi. Having done so I checked the contents of the /POI file and found more than expected 33 files 3 x 11 sets for EU Cyclops). So invariably GE does not manage this process very well.

In either case this isse is seemingly resolved now - can only confirm so with 100% certainty once I use satnav outdoors.

I can report that my DriveAssist 51 LMT-D appears to be fixed with this update. Using GE 6.10.
What I did do was deleted the contents of the /POI file before reinstalling from Tools -> Tools & Content -> Purchased and selected Garmin Subscription Cyclops Europe.
I ended up with the expected 33 files.
Device -> About shows the UK & Ireland database is dated 22nd November.
Obviously, I need to pass a camera or two to be 100% certain, but the UK&I DB is certainly back.
  • Happy New Year!

Can you check if your nuvicam still reports UK&Eire cyclops as present in your units?

Mine have gone mysteriously missing again as of yesterday's morning update (all files dated 31/12) despite all files being present in /POI (including 006-D0698-00.gpi which is UK&Eire cyclop file). Nuvicam now reports two sets of Dutch cyclops instead?

As a test, I did repeat the upload exercise in the evening, and with the same result.

I was wiser this time and have restored UK&Eire cyclops from the previously-saved backup copy - after the trip, mind - but really find this whole process as being utterly ridiculous.

i started to have issues with my UK cameras in the last week, so i redownloaded the 31 Dec update, and all the UK maps are gone again
  • And yet again my post has been removed, even though it consisted of an exclamation and change-of-mind comment. Truth hurts, eh?

Anyway, I did raise this with GarminSupport yet again - but I have to say one thing: I don't believe I have seen and used such continuously broken piece of software like Garmin Express is, and over the years as well. My posts on this forum (remaining ones, that is, as some of them have been removed by too-anxious moderator) are the testament of it.
  • It was deleted because it was pointless, adding nothing to the discussion. You're more than welcome, as are others, to post constructive comments :)

Incidentally I've used Express since its inception and rarely had issues.

Of course you did not - but on the other hand: I did notice over the years when glaring issues are reported on this very forum by others en masse, your contribution is rather rare then.

In either case: this particular issue with paid subscription is on-going for the 3rd month in a row now - which is simply unacceptable - and which also means that I will not renew it.

The problem is still there on 8th January. My Garmin DriveAssist 51 LMT-D has two copies of Netherlands database and is missing the UK&Ire database.
  • Affirmative. Garmin is on the case yet again - they work on the fix as we speak - and in the meantime they suggest using safety cameras via Smart Link app (which I personally won't do as I keep the two: satnav and [smart]phone distinctly separately).
