Garmin Dashcam 55 – Speed Cameras (UK) stopped working after Garmin Express update

Speed camera warnings and notifications had been working fine on the device until I completed the latest update via Garmin Express on the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] Jan.
Contacted support desk who firstly instructed a reinstall – this didn’t resolve the issue. Shared all relevant log files and details and no resolution.
Feedback from support desk was other users have also reported an issue.

One week on and still not working, no work around offered, no options to revert or downgrade Camera file versions and no time scales for when a fix will be provided. Really not good enough.

Any others having similar problems with camera warnings ceasing to work?
Any ideas on a work around?

DON’T UPDATE CAMERA FILES ON A DASHCAM 55.
If you were going to complete an update to the camera data I would suggest you don’t and hold off until this issue is resolved.

I've since September 2018 a year-subscription of Cyclops speed camera's Europe. I always received 2 times a week an update of Cyclops through Garmin Express. But since about 3 weeks I don't receive updates of Cyclops anymore. 2 weeks ago I reported 2 missing speed camera's. Cyclops said they're already in the new database. But I still haven't received a new Cyclops update.

I contact Garmin Support The Netherlands today. They said there's no specific time for Cyclops updates, sometimes once a month (or longer).

When I press in Garmin Express on the 'cloud' with the 'arrow down' to download the Cyclops database again. I received the same 'update' from 3 weeks ago.

What I've done to fix the probleme:
    - remove the 'sample' files from the POI folder in my Garmin DriveSmart LMT-D
    - I reinstalled Garmin Express.
  • I believe there is an issue with the Cyclops database, certainly in the UK. I'd contact support again and ask them as I'm unsure how often you get an update, although I seem to recall it's weekly.

Weird that the Garmin Support Netherlands doesn't tell me that. Mabye the lady on the phone didn't know it?

I hope they 'll fix it soon and I get my 'lost weeks' back. :)

I received a message from Cyclops UK. They told me that they released an update every 10 days.
  • Nah, they were much more frequent in the past - every few days - and frankly: there's been no update sent to users (at least to me) in the last 3 weeks. Just sayin'!

I have received an email from Garmin this morning saying they are aware of the Cyclops database update problem.

Specifically, the disappearance of the UK & Ireland database from devices on the 31st October update.

No timeframe for a solution, but my case has been linked to the UK & Ireland database specific problem and should receive an update when available.
  • Well, after a couple of weeks of inactivity Garmin Express informs me that there is an update to the speed camera database so hopefully everything is back to normal.
  • Yes, got an e-mail from them as well.

This update however, rather than fixing the problem automatically by GE, apparently requires users to reinstall cyclops themselves through GE / Tools / Content / Purchased. Or at least that's what I was told to do.

Is this really acceptable solution? How many users will remain blissfully unaware that their subscription is outdated unless they do so?
