Despite several topics alluding to similar problems on the forums I can’t find an actual solution to this issue.
I’m trying to update maps to 2017.10 on my Edge 1000 and after six or more attempts Garmin Express continues to grind to a halt somewhere between 73.3% with time remaining of 18 minutes and 77.8% with time remaining of 15 minutes! As far as I can see the software simply stops doing anything.
I’ve updated Express to the latest version, changed USB cables, tried with and without firewall / virus protection and nothing stops this inevitable cease in all activity.
To be clear, this occurs during step 2 of 2: Updating Maps while the software reports it is copying files.... So I don’t know if the hang is during download of the maps or upload to the Edge.
I’m on a 100mb internet connection, with an i7 windows 10 PC so I’m well above the required spec to perform this operation.
The next strange thing is while in this state navigation in Windows Explorer starts to behave very strangely. It either goes into not responding mode or takes an absolute age to respond as if the whole system is being taxed to it limits?!? It’s not as the Task Manager reports minimal CPU activity (specifically 0% for Express) and virtual no internet traffic leading me to believe that Express has simply stopped?!?
I’m out of ideas as far as an explanation or solution is concerned (with the expection of trying the whole process on my work PC tomorrow which fortunately I can) so any suggestions, explanations or ideas would be very much appreciated!!!
