Garmin Express V6.0.0.0 Unable to download Camera Updates

Hi All

I Purchased the Cyclops Speed camera Europe 1 year subscription 11 Months ago due to expire on 26.02.18 and Im unable to re-download and install this onto my Nuvi2599 LMT-D device

I think there may be a underlying issue with Garmin's servers or a possible Bug with the V6.0.0.0 GE as I was able to update this in December using V5.8.0.0

I have tried the following troubleshooting Tips lucky for me I work in IT.

-uninstalled GE re installed GE
-check date and time, Also synced with Windows Time, its synced for GMT
-Checked proxy settings using the inetcpl.cpl command and made sure these are set to automatically detect
-Cleared the Cache data in the following location C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService
-Ive tested this with three different internet connections, I have tested this on Virgin media, BT and Also tethered from Mobile which uses EE
-tried this on a Desktop PC (windows 10 using GE V6.0.0.0, Windows 7 Laptop using V6.0.0.0 and Windows 10 Laptop using GE V6.0.0.0)
-Disabling the Firewall on the Anti virus application

The process for me to download these updates or re download the Speed camera POI files using GE are as follows

-Open GE
-click onto Nuvi2599
-Tools&content
-Purchased
-click onto the cloud icon for Cyclops safety camera Europe (I have tested this signed in and also signed out of my Garmin account within the GE application)
-It goes through the installing mode but then fails, I've had different error messages as follows "There was an error installing the content"

    This, it was working fine with v5.8.0.0 / v5.9.0.0. I witnessed rather bumpy update to my camera subscription last weekend whilst using v6.0.0.0 - which ended up with message as below:

    -It goes through the installing mode but then fails, I've had different error messages as follows "There was an error installing the content"


    Interestingly, having closed and restarted GE it reported that my device is up to date - so as must assume that cameras have actually been updated...!
  • This issue has already been reported and our engineers are working diligently to resolve it. Please contact the Product Support group in your region and request to be added to the open case for notification of resolution.
  • Me too. Since Garmin Express updated itself to 6.0.0.0 (don't you just hate it when corporations take over your PC without permission!), my cameras won't update and presumably neither will the maps. After downloading for a while, it gives up and provides a completely unhelpful error message. The only change to my system has been the update to Garmin Express.

    I have opened a new case with Garmin (days ago) but have received no response. Meanwhile I am unable to update my Drivesmart. Why no further response from Gamin on this problem?

    developers (...) break their work into actions that can be completed within timeboxed iterations, called sprints (typically two-weeks)

    There's a chance that this will get sorted much quicker though as this is rather silly but obtrusive bug...

    Still, having said that, one needs to question Quality Assurance - Garmin seems following what all other software vendors are doing these days unfortunately and relies on customers to do the tests for them... but that's another story.

    I have the same issue. With my Drivesmart61, using the Garmin express 6.0, there is no possibilities to update the Cyclops. They are included as a Liftime update with the devide, but notihing is working.

  • In my case it actually did work afer fourth or fifth attempt to get these subscriptions updated - I exercised it yesterday evening - and that includes shutting down GE completely and re-opeining it again.
    Worth trying if you're under the cosh.

    I contacted Garmin BELUX (as a live in Belgium) to open a case (and mentioned the link to this topic !) . They obviously don't know the problem and didn't bother to have a look at this topic: they answered me that it must be a problem with my PC or internet connection !?

    Could someone inform them about this problem ?

  • Suddenly today, after I tried for almost a week, the update worked, partially (some GMA/GPI/UNL files) through the normal update mechanism and partially (other GMA/GPI/UNL files) through "Tools and Content" > "Purchased" > "Install" !?
