Sorry, we're having a problem communicating with our servers

I have multiple GPSs supported by GE
Drive 50 and several older nuvi's

On the nuvi's, no issue (even see the new 2018.1 map ready to update)
On the Drive 50, I see "Sorry, we're having a problem communicating with our servers"

So now issue with firewall or something wrong with my PC clock being out of sync.

any thoughts?
  • That's clearly not how it's meant to work, hopefully Garmin will resolve it soon but will be worth calling them to explain the issue.

In the meantime you could try manually removing a map to see if that then forces Express to add another one. One of the maps should be in the folder named Map, the other in the hidden .system folder.

I was able to install the updates, but I still can not install other maps (etc. North America). When I click on map options I only see Europa 2017.30. Can anyone help?

The EU maps can't be swapped out, but your "other" map (originally Middle East and North Africa) can.

So at any given time you can have on the unit:
Europe & Middle East North Africa
    Europe & North America
    etc..

    (And you can swap back)
Here is the procedure (which can be found @ http://www.garmin.com/traveledition)

Go to “Map Options” under “Middle East and North Africa” (or whatever your non-EU map is currently)
    Go to “Change Map”
    Click on “Continue”
In the drop-down menu, choose the region you would like to download
    Click on “Continue”
  • From his description I think the issue is that he's not getting that option ...

The EU & MENA Maps are two separate entries in Garmin Express.

    EU & (EU) Map Options
    MENA & (MENA) Map Options

If you choose the EU Map Options, that is all you will see, if you follow the MENA path, it will (should?) Give you the choice of the other Maps.

(Note this is only true for the Travel Edition, not the other various models Drive 50 LMTs)

I do not see “Middle East and North Africa” (or whatever your non-EU map is currently) when I click "Map Options" and I can not define any other Map Options

Can you confirm you have the travel edition of the Drive 50LMT?

If you have the "Travel Edition", Garmin express should show:

Map: Full Coverage of Europe XXXX.XX
    Map Options
Map: Middle East and North Africa XXXX.XX
    Map Options

According to the support they are still working on 50 LMT Travel Edition issues. Although, I now see the two different maps and map options. I also can now download the Nord America maps.

When you do load the American map, can you tell me what version

    1) Garmin Express reports?
    2) GPS reports?

Drive 50LMT Travel is working how it should work.

But the Zumo 395LM/595LM Travel edition isn't. No option to change to another map/continent.
And also no option anymore to install the maps onto PC....
