Strange update notice in version 4.5.0.0

I have the latest version 4.5.0.0 and when I click on garmin express the startup screen shows in blue that I have 2 updates for my driveluxe 50 and my 2 nuvi 3597s. I click on any 3 of these units and at top it says You're up to date! but shows install in blue and when I click on view details it shows 2 region audio files for TTS3 VE,Mandarin Chinese andTTS3 VE, Taiwanese. Why are these being offered on main page? I use English files and think this should not be offered on main startup page. But the main question is if it says I am up to date why are these being offered. I think this is maybe a problem with version 4.5.0.0.

In any case, Garmin should remove these as required updates.

Agreed, hopefully they will.

Not sure why the behaviour is different on different models, maybe the newer ones cope better :confused:

So I can confirm the Express behavior, at least on the 3597 nuvi. Maybe it behaves differently on another model.

I can confirm this behavior on the 2599LMT-D nuvi!

Strange ... I've just tried this to a clone of my 2508 and now it is downloading the Chinese/Taiwan voice files even though I asked Express just to download the timezone update. So there definitely does seem to be an issue with 4.5.0.0 not doing as it's told, and these voice files shouldn't even be offered.

Good news I suppose is that my actual 2508 hasn't got the additional voice files :D

Not only with version 4.5.0.0

There is also an issue with the actual 5.0.0.0!

I find the fact that the Garmin Express team has not commented on this even more annoying than putting up with the actual unwanted updates. Maybe if they explained why we have to have these unwanted files pushed out to our devices, we could at least understand the rationale, even if we disagree with the purpose.

They're Gone!

The two Chinese voice files are no longer showing up in Garmin Express 5.0.0.0 for my 3597. Instead there was an update for Samantha v2.50 which installed without issue. I have deleted the two unwanted voice files from my 3597 and so far the unwanted updates are not showing up in Express. Thanks Garmin for fixing this!
