I've been using BC + my Nuvi 55 it was working fine. I have the current map downloaded onto both my computer + gps. Software is latest + greatest as is the map. Now, for some reason, when I open Basecamp it says my maps are locked. When I try to "unlock online" it says Garmin Communicator not detected. I downloaded Garmin comm Plugin, same thing. It communicates fine with Garmin Express. What now............I leave for Sturgis in one week. If this thing doesn't work I'm gonna absolutely flip out!
This problem has recently been noted on the Zumo forums, and solution appears to be either a re-download of the maps to your PC or a call to Garmin for the unlock code if that doesn't work. I'd initially try removing your maps from your PC (through Control Panel or use JaVaWa's GMTK program) and reinstalling via Express to PC only. If that doesn't help call Garmin.
Basecamp should be able to read the map directly from your nuvi, so that is a short term work around.
Yes, BC can read the map on the gps. I didn't realize this when I posted, but tried again using the gps map, and it worked. Don't understand why my maps are"locked" now, they weren't before. Come to think of it, this is the first map I've made since doing some for a buddy. He has a NUVI so I used his gps map with BC so the map on his device + the one I used in BC was the same. This is the first time I've used it since them + now mine maps are locked.
Well Garmin Express has sure changed, I can no longer find an option to download the gps map to my hard drive. Maybe if a map update were available, it would offer this option. But, I have the latest map + software + there's no map download options offered anywhere.
Are you running the latest version of Express? Map options is listed in blue underneath where it tells you which map is installed. At least it does for all 3 of my nuvis.
Just returned from my trip to Sturgis (before the rally) + my Nuvi 55 worked flawlessly! Had three intense days of riding pre-programmed into it + it executed the routes like a dream. Much thanx for the help I received here, it would have been DISASTROUS had it not worked.
