There was a problem communicating with the Garmin device GARMIN

Where is this Time Zone map located? I have looked everywhere on gps but can not find it.

In the hidden .system folder. For some of your devices setting Windows to show hidden and system files will reveal it. Others will also need to be switched from mtp to mass storage mode.

I'm having this issue with a BMW Navigator V. Tried removing all GPX and GarminDevice.xml, but that did not help. Could not find any hidden folders although I configured Windows to display them.

Strangely, Garmin Express still connects fine to my device. From this thread, I gather that there's some issue with BaseCamp that spans many different devices.

The first place to turn to would have been Garmin Support, but their web site tells me "This site is undergoing maintenance".

Any suggestions what else I can try?

Unfortunetly i have to do this trick every time i reconnect. Time Zone map updates automaticly and i dont know why :(

SUSSAMB, are you answering my post? Hard to tell. :-) If you are: I wrote "Could not find any hidden folders although I configured Windows to display them.". That leaves only "Others will also need to be switched from mtp to mass storage mode.". Let's see whether I can find out how to do that. Yes I could:

1.Bring up the volume screen on the GPS.
2.On the upper right hand corner.Press your finger on screen and hold for appx 10 seconds.
3.Shortly you will see the developers screen.
4.Find MTP Settings and touch it.
5.It will show 3 selections. MTP Auto Detect,Mass Storage and Mass Storage Single Session.
6.Touch Mass Storage as your selection.
7.Now select save and you are good to go.

Now let's see whether that helps ... Yes, it did!

(Sidenote: I simply replaced the v16 gmaptz.img with v15 and reset and reconnected the unit (so didn't need to perform all the steps listed above by Satnavman).)

Thanks everyone for your help in solving this. Now, as soon as Garmin's Support contact page works again, I might let them know to follow up on v16 with v17 sooner rather than later. :)

Everything worked fine for me as Well !!! since I've replaced the v16 gmaptz.img with v15 !!!
Now each time I connect my BMW NAVIGATOR V the Garmin Express Tells me that there is an update for the time zone to ver. 16 and
obviously I do not proceed, cause that's what initiated all the problems !!!!!

BaseCamp 4.4.7 no longer communicating with Nuvi 2597

After upgrading to BaseCamp 4.4.7, every time I launch BaseCamp I get the following error: "There was a problem communicating with the Garmin device nuvi 2597. Please update the software in the device. Communication with the device may continue with reduced functionality. Please contact Garmin customer support for assistance."

I've used GarminExpress and verified that all updates for my device are currently applied.

If I go to Device --> "Check for Device Software update" within BaseCamp it doesn't even find my device (even though it is connected and Garmin Express recognizes it)

I've uninstalled and re-installed and the issue persists.
