Don't want the Garmin software to install to C:

Hi All,

I've looked for a solution but can't seem to find it anywhere. I have no space left on my SSD drive C:, which is purely for my Windows 7 and Office applications. I have lots of disk capacity on my HHD drive D: where I install ALL other non essential software programs.
Why isn't there a choice of drive when installing Garmin Basecamp, webupdater and many other Garmin programs??????????????
Garmin basecamp, webupdater and several other Garming programs keep continue to install on what little space I have left on my C: drive.
Is there nay way to install the Garmin programs on my D: drive????

I have THREE Garmin GPS devices, a Zumo 500, a Zumo 660 and a Oregon 600t. I can't create routes on my desktop without the software. What a frustrating problem, just because they left out the choice of drive install.

Basecamp doesn't take up much space, it's the maps and Birdseye that does, .....

Soooo, all the more reason to have the ability to specify the drive from the start!!

Especially given BaseCamps quaint way of importing identical files (BirdsEye samples as mentioned before) despite having over 100 copies of them already from anything connected. By nature, customers have to load maps and will very likely load BirdsEye so it's going to get much larger in size.

Customers should not have to use 3rd party software like the extremely handy GMTK to do what is apparently an easy programming task at Garmins end.

This is still an issue. I don't want other stuff on my C drive, and Garmin "presumes" I want it there. As a result, I don't use Garmin Express. In fact, maybe just leave the whole Garmin eco-system for something that doesn't hog up my C:\ drive with 475MB of program where I don't want it.

I just loaded Mapsource on my new Win10 laptop and it gave me the option of installing to the D: drive, no hesitation. What is up with Basecamp? Obviously the issue isn't the lack of installation program technology to give you the option. It is a real issue on smaller SSD drives. It can't take over six years to make such a small change. Very disappointing! I'm stuck with Mapsource.

As I posted above BC takes up so little space it's not an issue, your database (which can grow quite large) can be anywhere you want it.
