BaseCamp 4.3.0.2 BETA is now available and can be downloaded here:

http://developer.garmin.com/apps/BC/BaseCampBeta_4.3.0.2.exe.zip

You will need to unzip the file before installing.

This release does not support XP.

You do not have to uninstall BaseCamp 4.2.5 and it will not overwrite that installation. The BETA and an official release of BaseCamp will live side-by-side but must be used separately. However the 4.3.0.1 BETA will be replaced.

Below is a list of changes. This is only a BETA release.

Added “Find Intersection” to the Find menu
Added parsing of the primary find text into address search fields
Improved ordering of auto-complete results
Improved street auto-complete results when searching for streets with prefixes and suffixes
Improved some usability issues with address and intersection searching
Improved recovery from corrupted cache information from device maps

Post here if you have questions.

The BETA is currently only for English users.

Before using this release, back up your data.

Please post any bugs you may find here. This release is to assist us in testing with a wider user base and wider set of devices. Bugs may be present, and any feedback is welcomed.

NOTE: We are aware of several issues with address searching on devices. We ask our users to please test this very well and let us know of the issues you find. Some of them will be duplicates of issues we have already found, but the advanced address search is new for this release and we need a good test bed to be sure that the feature is working correctly when we do the full release.

Again, thank you for all who participate.
  • This is what seems intuitive to me. Why would I divide a route if it's not starting and stopping where I divide it? For that, I would have different waypoints and discrete routes.

For instance; I build a route from Home to 1Gas to 2Gas to 3Museum to 4Hotel to 5Food to 2Gas to 1Gas to Home. Before I load this to my GPS, I need to split it into 2 routes, 1 for each day. So my 2 new routes SHOULD look like:
    1) Home to 1Gas to 2Gas to 3Museum to 4Hotel
    2) 4Hotel to 5Food to 2Gas to 1Gas to Home

But what I am getting is:
    1) Home to 1Gas to 2Gas to 3Museum to 4Hotel
    2) 4Hotel1 to 5Food to 2Gas to 1Gas to Home

So I have to fix the second one, and delete waypoint: 4Hotel1.

Can someone illustrate the use case where duplicating is preferred?

Not sure what happened just then but the post I prepared disappeared. So you may get this twice.

I have sent 2 Basecamp routes to the email address you posted and had confirmation of receipt for both ["Automatic Response - BaseCamp (Case 126975)" and "Automatic Response - BaseCamp (Case 126986)"]. If you can't find them, could you post an alternative email address please?

I got the routes. Thanks! I don't monitor that e-mail but it was forwarded to me.

COASTER750, are you sure you're seeing the overtype issue with the beta? I am not able to reproduce, even with your data.

Also does restarting BaseCamp fix the error?

Yes. Overtype with Beta which has been rebooted/restarted many times. All nVidea drivers up to date too. Attached is screenprint from today - computer freshly booted and Basecamp started.

Automatic Response - BaseCamp (Case 127052)

I tried to report this on the forum, but I'm not sure if it got recorded.

It has to do with dividing routes, and causing involuntarily duplicated waypoints. Here is my best case description:

I build a route from Home to 1Gas to 2Gas to 3Museum to 4Hotel to 5Food to 2Gas to 1Gas to Home.

So I have to fix the second route, and delete waypoint: 4Hotel1.

This is undesired behavior, similar to the old behavior when BC would duplicate waypoints when duplicating routes. Now, there is a pop-up window asking which behavior is desired when duplicating a route. I would think that this convention could be shared when splitting a route, asking if the user would like a separate waypoint or shared waypoint for the new route.

Some discussion on the forum illustrated that both behaviors might be useful, depending on the user.

This has been undergoing some discussion. I am not sure what we will be doing but I know that this is being talked about.

Grr, I don't know why I can't reproduce this problem. I am even using your data I have tried adding and removing layover and departure time and going to and from the detailed view and I do not see the issue happen. Frustrating :(

I appreciate it. Let me know if you need any more input.
