Problems importing gpx files into Basecamp

I have obtained a number of gpx files lately from EveryTrail.com and Blogs of people who have done cycling trips. All say they are gpx files but as soon as I try and import them into Basecamp I get an 'unknown error opening import file'.
Any ideas?

Thanks for all you help on this and it sounds like I need to continue to use Mapsource to transfer my map sets to my device or SD card. That is OK for me and I will use Base Camp for some of the additional enhancements not available in MS.

Entirely up to you but as I've posted Basecamp will do what you want, just differently.

That's what I do :) I only use BC for specific functionality that MapSource doesn't have.

SUSSAMB has "had the operation" and only uses BC nowadays. He can't even spell "MapSource" anymore :p

True But you can simply copy the .img file to somewhere on your hard drive so you can swap it at will

Doing that saves you (re)creating and transferring .img files to your unit/card. Simply a time saver.

I see that you have an Oregon 450 with a 32GB SD. So no issues with that size card? I have heard from Garmin that no larger than an 8GB is recommended. I have a Colorado 300 which is limited to 4000 map sets which will fit on a 4GB card but one day soon a 4GB and 8GB cards will not be available.
