Sent Routes from Basecamp to device show in device folder but when I exit the program and safely remove Nuvi they do not show in Routes in device. Start Basecamp again and they don't show in device folder any more. Using Windows 8.1 with latest version software for Basecamp and Nuvi 1490
Some devices do not support sending routes from BaseCamp. What some devices will do is send the waypoints in the route. That particular device does not support custom routes. The UI as you have seen it has no knowledge of device capabilities so the best we can do is show that we have moved it over, but really only the waypoints are likely moved.
Because of the vastness of the devices Garmin offers, it is difficult to determine what each individual device supports.
Try:
Touch Tools
Touch My Data or User Data
Touch Import Route(s) from File
Select the routes you would like to import
Touch Import
The device will now import the selected routes. The routes that were imported can be found in the Routes option under "Where To?".
The import will automatically begin, but no message will appear on the device indicating that the import is happening and may take several minutes to import the trips.
Until the trip(s) show up in Trip Planner, please do not turn off the device or connect it to a computer.
*Please note: When routes are imported to your Garmin device, the route may change due to navigation settings within your device.
That is what is happening, it will send the way points but not the route. Strange though route shows in the device folder until it is removed from the computer. If you click on the route it is fine, until you disconnect it and then it is gone.
It's actually extremely handy. You can only have 10 routes loaded to your nuvi, but you can send hundreds to your 1490 and just import the 10 you require. Deleting them to reimport more routes doesn't delete the original files that you send, so they are available again for importing. It makes the system very flexible.
