Sent Routes from Basecamp to device show in device folder but when I exit the program and safely remove Nuvi they do not show in Routes in device. Start Basecamp again and they don't show in device folder any more. Using Windows 8.1 with latest version software for Basecamp and Nuvi 1490
While on the subject of 1490LMT and routing, I have a question. Based on SUSSAMB's response in another thread, I purchased a 1490LMT so that my shaping points in a route would not show up as segments in the route. I was previously trying to use a Nuvi 2555LMT. The 1490LMT now shows the route as a continuous route past a shaping point. However, the voice still announces the approaching point. I have set all the "via" points as they are called in the Route properties table to "won't alert", but this seems to be ignored. Is there something else else that needs to be done? What am I missing? I am using latest version of Basecamp.
I was afraid of that. I can probably put up with that for now. At least the route displays correctly now when compared to my 2555. Thanks for the confirmation!
To my knowledge only some Zumo's (aimed at motorcyclsts) and some newer Outdoor models support traditional routes (as per the 1490 etc) and unannounced via's. Newer nuvi's only support Trips (broken up routes).
Nuvis from the 2013 models onwards display trips more like the old style routes...
I'd forgotten that. I stand corrected.
FYI a workaround for older models is to put any via's on road junctions where the unit will announce a turn anyway. That's normally where I put mine anyway.
