Thanks so far for fast replies, but unfortunately none helps...
Routes were created in Basecamp, tried closing & reopening Basecamp, recalculation doesn't help either.
Still open to suggestions....

Was the route created using the same map? Also confirm the map is oriented North?
Incidentally is it a route or a track?
Looks like a track to me. Same thing happens when I'm "on the trail" capturing track data with a GPS on my hip in a pouch. For whatever reason, the GPS (obscured on one side by my body and gear) generates a track that is frequently approx 15 meters off the line, even with "5 bar" great reception whenever pull the unit from the pouch and look at it. (no way to tell about the reception while in the pouch, as satellite "confidence" data is not saved with track & waypoint data. :(
I've come to accept this "off-center" tracking is the result of "less than optimum" GPS location. (based partly on hip location of the GPS + hilly terrain, both causing a "partially obstructed view of the sky") My "off-center" tracking may not be related to your alignment problem, but it sure looks the same to me!
I can confirm these are routes, created in Basecamp, I only have one set of maps as above, North up, routes created using waypoint to waypoint dialogue box - but this misalignment happens no matter what way I create a route. This is something relatively new as it was perfoming ok before - may be since last Basecamp update (I'm up to date).
