Frustrating!!!! maps changing???

2557LMT, all current updates loaded
When using any of the online mapping services, MapQuest, Google, etc I create a map going exactly where
I want to go, using the roads I want to use, all looks good.
Download to the unit and it apparently thinks it knows where I want to go better than I do.
All of my work creating my map goes wonky, seemingly random changes here and there.
I've tried changing preferences avoidances etc, with little to no help.

This is extremely frustrating!!!! I can draw my maps out on napkins with more success, at least they wont change.

BTW, In case nobody has noticed BaseCamp is essentially useless.

I'm about to throw this thing in the garbage.

Hmm. I typed in the address exactly the same as your jpg and it immediately gave me the N Bluff and S Bluff addresses in St George, UT no problem. And I'm a blithering idiot. ;) Not sure what you're doing, I'm still on 4.1.2, but I doubt that would make a difference.

Hmmm??? I wonder if I can revert back?? Although after having some issues the other day I did a clean install.

Sure seems silly that it's searching for worldwide addresses when I don't need them??

Maybe tommorow I'll download the software to the wife's computer and try that??
  • On the 850 Bluff address, I get your result if I incorrectly type "850 Bluff, St George. UT" (Note the period after George instead of a comma). No problems with a proper entry.

Yep, that's great, I copied and pasted your "850 Bluff, St George. UT" to the search box, changed teh period to a comma, hit enter and got 50 returns, only 1 of which even contained the "850" portion of the address.

Can anyone understand why I'm frustrated and can't get anything done yet??
I created a trip using trip planner this morning, of course it selected the wrong roads, but I can't figure out how to change them to the right roads.

I've never worked with a program that could so quickly turn me into an idiot.

OK, completely different computer, downloaded basecamp, opened the program, copied/pasted the address from above, changed the period to a comma,
hit enter and got exactly the same result as I got from my computer!! Same exact list of results.

I'm up to 3 days of my free time screwing with this program trying to prove to myself that I'm not a flippin' idiot.

At this point I'd almost pay to sit down with the Garmin engineers to show them how normal people use software.

WAY beyond frustrated now, this is about to become a vendetta!!!

And why do I have to have the Nuvi connected to the computer the entire time I use the program??

    That's right, I'm starting a list........
  • You are connecting the Nuvi in order to access the “City Navigator North America NT 2014.1” map. I do not own a device with a preloaded map, so I don’t know what if any other options you have. If your device behaves as an external drive, you can try copying the entire contents of the device to a thumb drive and plug in the thumb drive instead.

I’m suspicious that your address problem is associated with “City Navigator North America NT 2014.1”. You might want to see if there is a new map available for your 2557LMT or if you can re-install the current one. You can also try and do some trouble shooting by trying “850 Bluff, St George UT” or “850 Bluff, St George”, or finding the city first and centering it on the map with “St George, UT”. If it finds the city, try and find the address “850 Bluff”.

Anyone out their have problems address searching with “City Navigator North America NT 2014.1” or with a map product accessed thru the device?

    PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!

    I went back to a program/website that ACTUALLY WORKS like a mapping(sorry ROUTES)should.
In the time since my last post, less than 2hrs actual working time, I have basically started from scratch and created 8 days worth of routes and transefered them to my GPS.
    Fixed!!!

Here's how it works, software folks pay attention to how simple it is, you could learn ALOT here if you pay attention.

    1. Enter start address
    2. Enter end address
2a. Take note that the addresses you just entered actually found what you were looking for
    3. Hit "create your ride" button
    4. Don't like the roads it selected?? No, Go to step 5. Yes, go to step 8
    5. Select a place closest to where you want to change, Click on the line once to create a waypoint.
    6. Click the waypoint you created and drag it to the road you want.
    7. Repeat 5&6 as needed to create the route you want.
    8. Like your route?? Click "Save your ride"
    9. Click GPS sync to transfer your new route to your GPS.
    10.Done

    Wanna know where this happens???
    Try here:
    http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Content/Pages/Ride_Planner/ride-planner.html

Take notice of how simple this is. There's barely even a tool bar needed.

    That's it, I'm done.......thanks for squat Garmin.
