    Inserting/correcting via-points

When I insert a via point in an existing route by clicking the "insert" button normally the rubber band was connected to both the start end via points of the section where you are inserting a new via point. Now only the band from the starting point is shown.

When I double click a via point in the route selection dialog to correct its position, the behaviour of basecamp is strange: see attached pdf file

On the map at the right bottom the zoom level was always displayed. Now I only see 'overzoom'

Still missing the option in basecamp to change the default projection angle of the map. Still using mapsource for that (CTRL-ALT a) every time we get a live update...

Really happy with the database location option!
    Keep on the good work!

    Kind regards
    Rob

I am having trouble to reproduce this. I created a new route with 3 points. Then clicked the Insert tool, then clicked between points 2 and 3 to insert a new point. The band is shown for both ends.

On the map at the right bottom the zoom level was always displayed. Now I only see 'overzoom'

If you zoom out more, do you still only see 'overzoom'?

    Thank you for your feedback.

I vote for this too. However, old Russian saying is: you have to wait 3 years for promises fulfillment. You have no soluton in case of Mac OS.

    My requests are:
    1) search panel or bar like in Mapsource to find Cities and Addresses.
Smart search for the cities, instead of burning CPU and HDD. Mapsource can search the same much more faster. Have not you optimized search mechanics? Have you no map specifications?
    2) Address must include search using complex building address numeration: like Ivanova st., 10K1. nuvi since 1xxx can do it. Why does Basecamp can't?
    3) Route planner should be better. "Point and click, then transfer". I still use Mapsource for trip planning.
    4) Projection angle should be changeable, or smart - latitude of the current screen can be used.
    5) Remove caching map tiles. A lot of space wasted on SSD. Every Garmin software puts it's garbage to cache to the separate places. Why?

All these requests are obviuos! Just use your software one time during the trip with the laptop on your knees (to test CPU temperature).
  • Both the Windows and the Mac OS X version of JaVaWa GMTK can set the projection angle for the maps that are installed on the computer; JaVaWa Device Manager can do the same thing for the maps that BaseCamp reads from your GPS.

I have just download this new version and realize that I could not import anymore a gpx files made with MapSource or downloaded from MaPmyRide or Bikely. Is there something that I do not catch about this ? Thank you for any help.

You should still be able to import. There is just a bug that makes the imports appear directly in My Collection and not in the folder you intended to import into.

    We'll fix that in 4.2.2.

I just installed Basecamp 4.2.1.0 on my Mac and, so far, no problems. However I haven't used it enough to really test it. One complaint with Basecamp that never seems to get fixed is the ability to open overlay maps on top of a topo map. For example I would like to open the "My Trails" overlay on top of the "cotopo11" topo map I have for Colorado. Adding this feature would be a great help; to me at least. Incidentally the eTrex 20 has no problem doing this.

    Importing Tracks

    Hi

Could download the program as update from 4.1. Had to remove the beta manually.

I think I found an issue: Imported tracks are not displayed in the list where they are imported.
When I than select my whole collection I can see the track on the map and as item in list. When I open the track dialog of the imported track on the reference tab it is stated that it is in the list where I have imported it. But when that list is selected again, the track is NOT visible on the map or as item in the list ...

I found this problem with importing tracks too. It creates a new list at the top level of My Collection of the same name as the list you are trying to import it into.
