Problem with Login to Forums

I can log in to the Forum and it says that I can post replies.

It continues to show this as I enter a reply but as soon as I commit it it says I am not logged in.

What am I doing wrongly?

Roy
  • This is at least the 2nd thread on this frustrating subject in the last couple of months (see https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?t=26156).

Could one of the developers kindly give us some feedback as to if this problem is recognized and is being looked into? Thanks!

It is entirely possible the issue I was facing is completely different from what is discussed in this thread, and the one in March. In any case, support emailed me back on my report of inability to login. I told them that as of Saturday, I can log in fine, but that it happened a month ago too. I further referred them to this thread, and the march thread about same.

Hopefully the right folks will look into it.

I think they know, since one of them already posted in this thread: https://forums.garmin.com/showpost.php?p=132322&postcount=7

I was giving C14Rider benefit of the doubt.... :)
One of my biggest functions at work is integrating Developers with SystemsAdministrators. I would guess that the developers who design and write code for our Macs, PCs, and various devices do not have administrative access to the forum or website software. And if I were to guess even further, the folks who can fix the forum issues are the same under-appreciated SysAdmins who maintain the servers containing website, shared storage where the developers put their source code, compile servers that turn the source code into what we install, the mail systems Garmin employees use to decide where to go to lunch, the systems their HR department uses to track time off and payroll, the .... you get the idea.

Yes, my career path traced heavily thru SysAdmin territory. :D
Don't forget the last Friday of July is the one day you REQUIRED to thank them! http://sysadminday.com/ ;)

Please add me to the list took over an hour to login. I created a account a while back on vBulletin's forum and I can login there just fine. I have used IE 8 and 9, Firefox, and Safari all do the same.

    OK, here's a new clue:
Today, I decided to visit the forums, and upon trying to login the first time it says the thing about over-quota for failed attempts. Then, I went to myGarmin per support's prior suggestion, and logged fine. As soon as I did that, I was able to login to forums.garmin.com without difficulty. I updated my support ticket with this info.

    The URL they suggested was
    https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/login.htm?service=https%3A%2F%2Fmy.garmin.com%2Fmygarmin%2Fcustomers%2FmyGarminHome.faces

My ticket ID (for those inside garmin who might have access to that ticket system) is:

  • Login Problem continues

Having submitted a reply on another topic, I read the latest responses on here.

Decided to add another reply and was told I was not logged in Duh!!!

Entered my login at the top and now I can get to the create reply screen. it says I may now post a reply. We shall see.

I raised this problem directly with Tech Support. Helmut suggested several changes to my IE setup. Did the changes. Problem continues.

If you click the forgotten passwork link, They send you an Email with yout USERNAME. Duh!!!

Loging in to MyGarmin and then going back to the forum appears to give you access again.

Switching to a different topic appears to be the activity which loses the login.

Does this fit the pattern others are experiencing?

I received noticed of reply posts in this thread via email, clicked it in Firefoxe and wanted to reply but was not logged in. I entered my user/pass at the top of the page and got the wrong password over quota message. Did it twice. I immediately opened IE with the same URL and was able to login at the top of the page successfully (and is why I am able to post this reply). Went back to firefox, entered same user/pass and it was then accepted and logged me in. >shrugs<
Not sure why FFox didnt work at first, then IE did, then FFox worked fine.
