yesterday I found out that some of my tracks I recently edited using the split and join tools in BaseCamp 3.2.2 for Windows lost their timestamps. That is the track itself still has a correct date, but the individual track points do not have any date and/or time information anymore.
I managed to reproduce the issue as follows:
- Start BaseCamp 3.2.2
- Select a track, check that it has timestamps, and then use the split tool to split the track into two.
- Immediately delete the automatically selected second half of the track that is usually named "Track".
- Optional: The track properties of the remaining first half of the track still show the timestamps, although ...
- Exit BaseCamp and then restart it.
- The track properties of the remaining fist half of the track now show that the timestamps are gone.
EDIT: The issue persists after upgrading to BaseCamp 3.3.1 for Windows. I can reproduce the issue with it too.
It looks like the split tool has a bug where the resulting halves share some ID that is used during a track delete and causes some information (e.g. timestamps) to be deleted from the other half if one of both is deleted during a session.
Is there any chance that the BaseCamp database still contains the timestamps and that they could be recovered?
Kind regards, thanks in advance,
Jens
