Custom map display distorted

When I look at my custom maps in BaseCamp I notice that they are stretched horizontally.

It's the same for the Recreational Map Europe v3.

It just looks like the whole map display is being stretched horizontally.

I suspect it's because my screen has an aspect ratio of 16:10 instead of the old "normal" 4:3.
Can this program not handle wide screen displays?

It also doesn't seem to match up the tiles very well. There are very noticeable parts where they are shifted up/down/left/right - but I've not noticed this on the Garmin device itself.

    BOGBEAN436,

Would you mind uploading the custom map that you're having issues with? I'm not as familiar with that part of the code so I don't have any explanation off the top of my head but I'll pass it on for another team member to take a look at.

I guess BaseCamp doesn't respect the rotation parameter. I started a similar topic in the BaseCamp for Mac forum some time before...

Yes my map is rotated a little. Which explains the odd alignment.
Maybe they'll fix Basecamp one day!

Just for info.. the rotation problem was fixed at a later version of Basecamp.

But I've just upgraded to V3.3 and now the stretching is back again. The registry setting are still there from before.

Are there some different registry settings needed in 3.3 to make it use my latitude for the display?

BaseCamp 3.3 still supports that registry setting.

Are you using the same map while displaying the custom map?

The registry setting for the projection angle needs to be made for each map product.

I've still got the same device with the same maps loaded.
All I did was go from Basecamp 3.1.3 to 3.3.2.

This is without displaying any custom maps. Just looking at the shape of the UK.

If I switch to Global Map in Basecamp the map is correctly proportioned.
But selecting the Recreational Map Europe V3 map makes it all squashed.

I've still got the key in the registry:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Garmin\SharedSettings\Products\133758977

with the ProjectionAngle set to hex 35 (decimal 53)

That registry entry is for the Global Map, not for the Recreational Map. So that one might still be distorted.

You will have to create the same registry for the Recreational Map: I believe the product id for that one is 30736385.

So you'd have to set the projection angle for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Garmin\SharedSettings\Products\30736385.

If that is the wrong product id, check HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Garmin\BaseCamp\Settings\Products\. That location should tell you all the product ids for maps your are using. Trial and error should allow you to find the right one.

Looks like the one needed for my map is: 3933855617

It used to be 4286177153 at the previous version of Basecamp.

Does the new Basecamp created a new product or something?
I've still got the old number in the registry in the BaseCamp\Settings\Products list, along with the global one plus another one: 4283830138. Any idea what that one is for?

Yeah, it looks like we are assigning a different id to those maps with 3.3.2. 4286177153 is the old one.

I am not sure what 4283830138, it's from some other card map you must have connected to BaseCamp at some point.
