Tried to uninstall an restart pc and same problem.
Running windows 11 pro 64 bit
Sorry I made things worse.
In the past, users have found that the uninstall does not remove all traces of the software. I would suggest contacting support for instructions to cleanup the registry (backup first) and any other folders/files for BaseCamp. Hopefully that will get you back to a state where 4.2.5 will intall.
You are not to blame.
A very late response, sorry about that, but eventually I was able to solve the problem of error code 0x000007b by removing all installed Visual C++ files and then (after restarting PC) reinstalling the versions up to 2013 using a batch file (Visual-C-Runtimes-All-in-One, just search the internet). Maybe this will be of use for others with the same problem.
