Basecamp 4.7.1 and Generic Routable (new style) for Garmin

I installed BaseCAmp 4.7.1 this morning over the previous version that was installed a few day ago on a fresh Win 10 computer which worked well. Subsequently I installed the OSM Generic Routable (new style) for Gramin Texas maps.

Basecamp opens and displayed the OSM map for about 5 minutes then threw up an "Error Detected" box and closed.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Basecamp and removed the OSM maps from the drive. Basecamp still gives an error message and closes.

Any ideas on restoring Basecamp? Has anyone else tried the OSM maps on 4.7.1?

I'm using 4.6.2 and after the issues with 4.7.0 won't be moving to 4.7.1 anytime soon

I understand the problems with 4.7.0 but chose to move up as It didn't affect me. The occasional times I need to load a map, I just use an older laptop running 4.6.2.

Anyway, the 4.6.2 won't run for me either. Something is majorly screwed up on my system. I hate to start deleting registry entries on the speculation it will solve the problem. But might have to go that route if no solution to this problem comes up.

I backed up then deleted the BaseCamp registry entries and restarted the computer. This seems to have fixed it but I am not sure why. I'll try the OSM Map again because I am a glutton for punishment.

Similarly waiting to hear whether 4.7.1 fixed the issue with 4.7.0 not working with the View in Google Earth function or that functionality is permanently gone.

Plan to take a look at 4.7.1 when I get the time to first do a hard drive image backup then install 4.7.1 to see what it does... If no Google Earth view will stick with 4.6.2

That feature is still missing.

I wrote a program to add it back. It works better because the item in Google Earth retains the BaseCamp name.
