How can I activate map?

Hello,

I updated my Garmin BMW Motorrad Navigator 4 with the latest Map available "City Navigator Europe NT 2019.2" but I am not able to unlock this map on Garmin Basecamp neither via Garmin communicator plugin nor via manual Code Insert.

Here's the Map status after Basecamp is loaded:

It says Not authenticated in the status, because Iinserted the unlock code manually.
If I try the online procedure using the garmin connect plugin, it detects the navigator but it doesn't unlock the map. No way!
If I click on "recover unlock codes" it says that all my maps have been unlocked but that's not true, and here's what I see:

Locked!

Of course I have an account on garmin web site and I regularly bought a device + lifetime maps license.

How did the map get on your PC? I'd try deleting it then reinstall it using Express, that should place all the necessary unlock codes in the correct place.

Hi!

I did it just using Express (latest version) as I am used to do. It's already one year or more that I'm facing this issue. But this time I would like to solve. Actually as you say, it should place all the necessary unlock codes in the correct place as it always did in the past.

For what I see, Express saves the map on the PC just downloading it from the device where it is already working properly.

I am going to try (once more) what you say and let you know. Thanks!!!

I tried again and it failed.

By the way I noticed lots of errors like this in Express.log file:

Of course I'm running Expres as administrator.

Looking at the GUI interface, everything is going fine, even if the map still results as blocked in Basecamp. Again, I'm not able to unlock online, even if the device is detected via communicator plugin.

Hi! I think I've solved the issue.

I tried to run Basecamp as administrator, and the Map is now marked as Unlocked!

Honestly I don't understand why Garmin wants user to run all these programs as administrator, but it's not obvious that everyone has admin rights on a PC. Is there any possibility to use it as normal user?

No, you generally have to run it as Admin, same with Express.
