The “API changed” excuse is kind of bogus.
My program doesn’t use the API.
And it works for any version of BaseCamp/Mapsource/Google Earth.
Working for me on Win10, using Google Earth Pro 7.3.2.5776
No, I've never claimed that. I'm still working with 4.6.2 for that very reason. If you want to upgrade though use dpawlyk's program posted above.
Agreed. 4.7 was effectively a downgrade with many features removed. Your best bet is to reinstall 4.6.2 :)
Yes, that feature is still missing.
I wrote a program to add it back. It works better because the item in Google Earth retains the BaseCamp name.
My experience when this was first discussed (over a year ago) that even though reverting to v4.6.2 worked - Google updates (at least under macOS) eventually rendered this option useless as Google updated the API as far as I knew. So are Windows/macOS users on 4.6.2 today able to use Basecamp v4.6.2 with the current version of Google Earth as of the date of this post?
What version of Google Earth are you using? I ask as I get a "Google Earth could not be opened" message. Now despite that I'm on a Mac I do remember that Google did away with the regular version of Google Earth for Google Earth Pro and that's where the break happened. I remember I kept using the regular Google Earth for sometime time but then its functionality started to suffer as I wasn't updating it.
